the interesting thing about the Omni Logic is that it combines the antenna with the control unit...not a great thing...especially when you use wifi and you need locate the unit in a hard to reach spot to get enough reception (50% or more) to keep a steady connection...kinda hard to access the control when it is 7 ft off the ground or higher
it takes 10x as many words ( and 4 times the steps) to explain putting the system into pool or spa mode with a Hayward Omni Illogical. than with Pentair and Jandy systems and Hayward's claim to fame is making something simple, difficult. It's the Common Math version of pool automation!!!
I'm explaining things in the video, but the service side setup of the Pentair is much more complicated than the Omni, the Jandy is not bad but still irritating to me.
Great video, thank you.. Do you have any recommendations of chemical brands or what order to add them? I’m in Texas and my pool was just built so I’m new to this chemistry project, thank you
Balance pH and calcium, then get your chlorine residual going, might have to add CYA for a new pool to shield chlorine from sun burn off. Keep pool running 24/7 at first while balancing everything.
What worked for me is tape the threads then put paste on tape lots of it and then screw the fitting all the way in to where you can barely fit a finger to touch the threads.
This has been so frustrating for me and I’ve spent so much time and money and it won’t go away. I’m going to try this but I’m confused about vacuuming. Do I need to vacuum before adding the treatment or after or both? Also am I supposed to vacuum to waste? My cartridge filter is covered in this gunk so do I need to clean that first?
Clean your cartridge filter, you don't have the option to vacuum to waste on a cartridge filter. Use yellow treat and shock, in a rate of 2 pounds of shock to 1 cap of yellow treat. For heavy infestations you may need multiple bottles of yellow treat. Can also install a pool RX cartridge to help after cleaning the filter.
If it is not killed and removed by yellow treat, shock and even a pool RX cartridge, then the plaster is probably stained and the discoloration will not come out.
I have an autofill that is leaking at the area where you screw the float valve screws into the female receptacle in the ground. Pretty sure there is some threading damage on the female, but its in the ground so not easy to work with. Any thoughts on how to fix that other than cut the entire autofill out the ground and replace it?
The horizontal floats usually come in two parts, so you could use pvc cement to glue one into the female threaded part. Then if the float needs to be replaced in the future, just disconnect float part and replace that, the threaded piece will not have to be replaced.
i am at a loss with trying to remove mustard algae. i have about 30,000 gallons. i used 4lbs yellow out with 4 lbs of super powder shock. i vacuumed on waste the following day. 48 hours after treatment, i thought i had gotten rid of it like the store advised me. by the 3rd day, the algae started to appear in the same spots. i used another round of yellow out and shock. by the 3rd day again, it started to show up. this is a saltwater pool with a sand filter. i noticed the flow from the waste on the filter was not a steady flow, water was shooting out in pockets of small blowouts. is that from air getting in the waste line or loose pipe? i decided to change to backwash to see if the flow was any better and it was. i forgot to put in on rinse and when i put it back on filter mode, all this brown/yellow crap entered the pool. probably because it has been 4 weeks since i last backwash/rinse the filter. i have been vacuuming on waste so there was no need to backwash/rinse. seeing all the algae shooting out of the return lines in the pool, do i need to change the sand? it is 4 years old. any suggestions? do i double the amount of yellow out/shock to 8 lbs to super shock the water? Thank you
I recommend using yellow treat product, not yellow out. I usually use a rate of 2 pounds of shock to 1 cap of yellow treat in the summer months. I usually see people not using enough yellow treat and shock. If you have a heavy infestation of yellow algae, you may have to increase the dosage amounts. Also can use a pool RX cartridge to help with algae.
Tried this and it worked! Had to go to three pool stores the day before Labor Day to find the 25uf but my pool party for tomorrow is saved! Thanks so much. SUBSCRIBED!
My valve is in the up position and it’s still filtering, not backwashing. How is that possible ? Update: turns out my backwash valve (hayward) does in fact go down for backwash position. But thanks to this video at least I knew what the lock and unlock positions were. Anyway, backwashing done. Muddy water out. Clean water flowing. Thanks again.
When my pump wasn't working my pool was still not turning green. But I use tablets with chlorine anti shock, anti algae for months. Now it rained for two days and it turned green really quickly I have put a new tablet but it's still not turning back to blue. Maybe it's too hot. Does it need more Chlorine with very hot weather ?
On 8/18/24, this video saved me a ton of money. The fix took 5 minutes and the part was $14 on Amazon. I’m guessing the pool company would have told me I need a new pump.
This video saved me from hours of trying to figure out to align the grids properly and I was able to knock it out in 15 minutes easy. Those notches where you lean the grid against to start was the key and everything just fell into place. Great tip there!!
Super glue? My pool company said never use super glue. It’ll cause a hardened buildup that will be impossible to get back out when you need a new gasket and would actually cost most to replace the entire housing.
No kill, like ovah kill. Thanks for sharing your technique. Finally have a pump with a discharge leak just like this. Wish Hayward used a oring setup like on the Pentair stuff.
Great video. We tried this method into the top of our heyward top mount valve for the sand filter and it indeed worked!!! However the other day the male adapter broke inside of the valve system, causing a pretty large water issue in our pump room. I'm not sure if this had to do with the added silicone, using the method into the valve system or something else, but just wanted to share.
If you are going to create a review of a product, perhaps you should consider reading the instructions for use. You broke a critical piece of the product out and acted like it was supposed to work without the piece that creates the vortex. I’ve used this skimmer for five years. It works. Don’t listen to this moron. RTFM!
Thank you. I don't understand how these companies think. Out of touch with reality. Thank you for making this video. After stressing myself for a week trying to figure this thing out, I found your video and it sold all my the stress
I'm dealing with something I need help with. My water us crystal clear. And it's a fairly small above ground pool 9x15 4ft I have a brown dust at the bottom when touched it disapaits. Once the water settles, it's back. It's impossible to vacuum due to being so fine. Someone help this Mom! 😂
