This is a crap video, once I started Proton radiation therapy, it destroyed my taste buds and if you think you can eat solid foods without taste and “normal oral enzymes”, you’re deluding yourself. The “medical professionals” talk like it’s easy to maintain your diet, it’s not, food falls apart in your mouth and you chew and tryst to swallow, only not to have it go down. If anyone can give me any advise on how or what to eat I’m open for suggestions, I’ve already lost 20lbs in 3 weeks. This is not an easy treatment modality, it’s nausea, vomiting, metallic salty “taste” to everything, think of a big gulp of ocean water, for everything you drink/eat, after it a while, it’s sickening.

So anyway, Dr. Ewer, I sent an Op-Ed to The New York Times about how you asked me if I would have a baby with you when I was working at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. You stated to me that you wanted to have a baby with me and that you would never marry me. The answer is, resoundingly, no. Why would I want to have a baby with you. By the way, that is the worst case of sexual harrassment. Were you looking for a greencard or something. To this day I have not mentioned it to you, but you did do that to me and worse, you told me to my face that everyone at the cancer center was screwing around with each other at the job and that "I must not fit in" somehow. That is called sexual harrassment, but Dr. Plunkett was worse. Thankfully, I am gone from that institution, but you need to know, I never appreciated any of your advances.

I guess that is why I got terminated because you and Dr. Plunkett were that guilty and had something to hide besides the IMCLONE scandal. Otherwise, I really do not know why I got terminated and was denied my Harford disability insurance. I tried to get someone to help me, but it has been two decades obviously and you two still work there. I already know that I was a good employee. There was no reason to dismiss in such a cruel fashion on July 17, 2002. I worked every single holiday so that the others could stay home with their families. I never once got to go to my own daughter's field day. You people at that place are incorrigible. I will consider voting for Ted Cruz or Greg Abbott even though you people destroyed my life. I am a Republican. I am nice and I am pro-life. But I did not deserve all the hastiness with which you people just had to have your ivory tower. So tragic.

Dr. Ewer, I am amazed that you go to Geneva Switzerland and do not even get one comment except from me. Thank you for you continued service to the world cancer dilemma. I have started my own business and when I get enough money, I will send you more information about the probability that I can send you a friendship gift.

Mike, I really want to know the end to all of the jokes you cracked in all the MICU's in the Tumor Institute. Plus, you still owe me a full tank of gas, but I do not have a vehicle anymore.

sorry but this is rather nonsensical, since throat cancer after treatment makes a person unable to eat, swallow and eating solids, is not even an item.

Did you watch the whole video? Did you get a feeding tube put in? I did on both. Although my body rejected the feeding tube and it got infected and my formular was changed 4 times before they found one that my body could handle. I had to force myself to eat. I never lost the ability to swallow totally although 5 months after treatments stopped I still can't eat meats because they are just too dry and tasteless. The texture of many foods I loved is unbearable. Thanksgiving I was able to eat a little dark meat turkey, sweet and white potatoes all with lots of gravy, corn, and canned green beans. I am just now noticing my saliva glands working a little better which will help me be able to eat without having to sip water to swallow the food. Yes throat cancer is terrible, we have a lot of side effects to deal with, and not everyone suffers to the extent of others. I lived on cream of mushroom soup, low sodium V8 juice, tomato soup, Ramen noodles, milk, instant breakfast, club soda( for the terrible flem stuck in my throat) and lots of Ensure!! I lost 44 lbs so far during the ordeal. Please try to look for positive things to help you get through this! My family grew closer helping me through this. My arthritis disappeared during my treatments, but they are coming back now 4 months after I finished treatment. I am now working in my garden again with extra energy. And so far I beat the throat cancer!!! Wishing you the best and hang in there. I know a lot of information doesn't pertain to us all. Take what does work.

I can strongly recommend you do EVERYTHING they tell you to do. As much as Chemo and Radiation is not pleasant, these things will help. They are exactly what I was told to do and they were a great help to me. Yes my mouth is dry but it's getting better. Yes solid food is difficult but it's getting better. Yes my memory is a bit dodgy, but heck I'm still here .....

I had an extra problem : because my meningioma affected my cerebellum and one vagus nerve I also have reflux and had vomiting before and during radiation. So as well as swallowing difficulties I also could not eat dairy and fats among other things and often threw up what I had taken ages to slowly eat (for a couple of months I could not swallow anything other than seived liquids). It took 6 months for my weight loss to stabilise and I ended up with osteoporosis. The good news is that my swallowing is 90% better (one year later), my voice is returning and my weight is still stable. The reflux is stable with treatment and limiting my diet.

Please do a video about long term radiation side effects. 11/2 years after treatment, I have significant hearing loss, damage to my left optic nerve and, memory problems. At times I have trouble concentrating. I had squamous cell carcinoma of the parotid gland in summer of 2016.

hi. what precautions were taken by the radiological team? did they make you a helmet to wear during treatment?

Tim Mosso's Sunglasses No precautions were taken except to drink a lot of water and minimize my sun exposure. I had to wear a mask to immobilize my head during treatment.
