I share video experiences of audio in an ENGAGING and WELL MADE WAY. I don't believe Hi-Fi should be presented in a solely technical and perfunctory way, because HiFi is a means to an end of faithfully produced music and music is entertainment!
I like to promote the expansion of HiFi to new audiophiles, as well as existing ones, and this is why I make well produced, non alien videos.
I believe that ALL REVIEWS must be comparison based to have value. In this sense I’m a strong proponent of getting to the bottom of products for brands to reach USP’s, and consumers to get you what you want.

Great video!! I found an offer for a pair of used A7Vs just under 1 year old for 800€ in total, but I was told that the Evo Alpha twins are far better, have you ever tried them? What do you think?
I’d like to know what your connectivity problems you were using Roon with the Cambridge streamer. Right now the system that I’m using with a Roon Nucleus communicating with a PS Audio DSD DAC/Streamer and an iPad endpoint to be able to sit in my listening chair and have an incredible amount of user features that I do not believe any other software platform can match. For that reason, if I could turn the screen on the Cambridge off I would probably do it because it’s just a waste of time from the distance of my listening chair to the screen.
I have been monitoring this amp from the beginning. I am really considering this one or the Advance Paris A10 Classic or the Hi Fi Rose RA280. Any thoughts people? Great review!
Hello there! Nice video! I have one question.. Can you set the signal quality out? I have e pair of Meridian DSP 6000's. And they handle mat the max 24/96. So anything above wont make a sound. How do I get around this? An DAC with max said resolution after the output? Or could it be set internally in the node?
How are you still liking the Hegel? I am considering the Hegel, Goldmote ph10 or the moon 310lp. So far leaning to Hegel but curious on others experiences
Thank you, Simon for remarkably helpful, succint and insightful content. Supernait 3 supplies enough current and voltage for my satellite loudspeaker load; the main amp in my system only reproduces above about 100 Hz. What are the lowest-cost new or used Naim power amps that at least equal the best musical qualities of Supernait 3's power amp stage for my application? How does the mid-2000 vintage NAP 150XS compare? How about more recent Naim power amps priced below the current $9k SRP NAP 250 entry-level power amp? What if any non-Naim power amps share the best qualities of Supernait 3's power amp stage? Exposure?
MC cartridges offer not just better high frequency but quicker transient response which theoretically equates to better audio detail. That said a good MM cartridge can provide very quality sound. A pretty good analogy can be made between MM and MC cartridges vs dynamic and condenser microphones. A dynamic mic element is a weightier slower transducer than the capsule of a condenser microphone. Similar to the MC cartridge the condenser microphone is thought in general terms to be the better piece of gear, the MM cartridge or the dynamic microphone are offen thought as lesser but that is not always the case. That said a Sennheiser MD441 which is a $1000 dynamic mic can offer to many people a "nicer" sound than a cheap budget condenser mic. Ultimately it's s all a matter of what kind of sound appeals to your ear, how your entire playback chain interacts and works as a system.... and of course just how much money you have to throw at the issue. ;)
I have both and yes, The eversolo A-6 is great value for your money, but it’s slightly more clinical or Digital. The Cambridge is more refined in sound quality and sounds warmer. Your speakers and the rest of your system also plays a big part or your decision.
Typical Chinese product lot of flash to impress your friends until it breaks and good luck getting it fixed. My own personal experience with products from that country “Shanling”. I lost $3000 of hard earn money and it didn’t even last 6 months, even with the replacement unit. I use it to keep the door open on hot summer days.
Got the Primare yesterday. Connected it to the Topping e50. I am amazed how good it is. I was using Wiim Mini before this. It improved the sound in every possible way. The sound got fuller with better resolution, soundstage and separation. The app is a bit lacking, but the sound quality is maybe worh the trouble.
Hello and thank you for your very informative reviews! I would like to ask you a question: At what volume level / "colour" you are putting the line output of the Chord Mojo 2, when you are using it only as a dac with fixed output, to a preamp or intergrated amp, using their volume control ?
Tell me the truth do you ever use your balance control? Why put a balance control on such a good amplifier? I'd rather see a bass a mid and a high end control..
Many thanks for this nice analysis. I'm planning to buy the GoldenEar BRX. It would very kind you to confirm I'won't have any problem wit Amp. NUPRIME A300 SE (150W4ohms/200Wohms). Anticipated thanks. (Sorry for my english ... I''m french speaking).
Hello, Hope you can help me with this.. Im going to buy my very first DAC and have this amp. Which one you recommend? A "resolving detailed" one or "musical" one? My speakers are somewhat neutral, so I'm worried if this amp combined with a warm DAC is going to be too much. Thanks for your time.
Surprise they don't just sell a fixed £800 device since you need the Bluetooth functionality to play music but the sd slot means you can listen to high bit rate music like a mp3 player without the screen but use your phone
Great Review thx a lot. Do you know the 12 year old Gold 50 too. I wonder if i can Mix both series in a 5 or 7 . 2. 4 setup in Home Cinema use. New Gold 300 and 250 Center with old Gold 200 as Surround and the 50 as Surround Back. Thx in advance
@marcusb. Whether an MC cartridge is "better" than a MM cartridge really depends what cartridge, what table and arm,, and pretty much everything else in the playback system. Really it all comes down to what you prefer sonically. Generally the MC cartrige is thought to be the "better" device but some people find that they can be too analytical sounding. A playback system is a personal journey, people can sometimes make suggestions that might be useful in helping you but its complicated and you have to really sort things for yourself by actually listening, swapping gear out, and learning how things work and what your own preferences are which can even change over time.
I just watched a GR Research video and Danny was trashing a Totem speaker. He clearly didn't understand the brilliance in the design. He disregarded the seemingly simplistic design. I would love to see an interview with Danny and Vince and watch Vince humiliate Danny with his ignorance and arrogance. The audacity of someone who thinks he knows more than the actual brand designer is just astounding.
Was wondering...how would the BRX work, if also employed in a Home Theater set up...with say, four of them, matched to a GE center and Sub?? Dynamics, Clarity...etc ? Thoughts? Loved your review, and thanks
Thanks, personally I’ve always thought that for really loud home cinema you don’t want speakers that are as forward so maybe definitive technology or speakers like Kef ls50 meta, as the treble could become grating as you turn volume up. That said you could dial it out with the receiver , av processor etc. depends if using the speakers for 2channel as well. The choices, the choices….
Thanks - Trying to find that "one trick pony" that can kinda do it all...some two-channel music listening, while also being able to handle some Home Theater duties, as well. Don't know if I should do speakers that handle ATMOS, etc...as they'd bring even more to the table. I heard FOCALs at AXPONA (Chicago) last year...they were really nice. Quality stuff those FOCAL speakers
Simon, I know exactly what you mean about many audiophiles wanting an overly smooth, relaxing and romantic sound from their speakers. Im like you. I want leading edges of sounds that are sharp in real life to sound as such through my hifi. Cymbals for example, when hit hard, are actually pretty jarring in real life. Too many speakers take the metalic tone away from cymbals and make them sound fluffy and paper like. I can live with a hint of warmth in the low midrange and even a smooth but tonally acurate sounding treble, but the long running trend of speakers that just cover everything in a wool blanket to avaid ever sounding off putting is baffling to me. Live music doesnt sound distant and soft and perfect. Neither should hifi. To each their own i suppose.
Thank you my friend. I had my mind on these a few years ago and today my current lovely Celestions are packing up, so I thought again of the Dynaudio Emit, looked on youtube and found this post. Totally convinced I went on ebay and a Pretty mint pair were just put up by an Hifi trader. £349 . Now mine. All in the space of 40 minutes. Magic exists
What you should do is take some classes in amplification tech. in the U.S. If you really knew sound and amplification you'd know that CLASS H is the ONLY way to go for an all around better setup for your sound system..
Using tubes is like going to an art show with sunglasses on! I'm outa here.. for what audiofiles spend on their setups is total foolishness in 90% of the cases..
Are you speaking in the proper KINGS English or do I hear a slang in your English pronunciation!? CLASS H hands down.. A, AB, D are all swell but made by MATTEL! Hey MAN the RAIL father Class H is the best for the BUCK and used voltage instead of AMPERAGE! Class D sucks.. switching amplification! NON-switching in class H is the BEST!
I don't agree with this review at all. Why are people making comments like "I appreciate your honesty"? How do you know this guy is being honest? It's one person's opinion. Opinion!!! As for anyone who thinks they can hear the difference via a RU-vid video, you need your head (and ears) checking. Go to a retailer and listen for yourself. Stop taking the opinions of one person on RU-vid as being the gospel.
So would you rather I just shill it like rest of them. I gave an honest opinion and I’ve bought PMC . If you don’t agree say why and then the rest of the people can make their minds up and trying too. Don’t abuse me instead . I’ve never ever maintained people should decide based just on me. Go out and make the same comparison I did re these two speakers
@@13thnotehifireviews7 I don't agree with the review. I stated that in the opening line. You are entitled to your opinion but I find large parts of your review misleading. The comments about the bass are not what I or many others have found. Given the number of positive reviews you have to ask what they're hearing that you aren't?
@blueturtle3203 you aren’t entitled to the opinion because you haven’t said and made comparisons to say whether you agree or not. The other reviews just do that as it’s the norm and most reviewers appease commercial considerations and are not journalistic. Do you think of this when you post? Do you understand how most hifi reviews work. All reviews are relative and comparative if done properly - if they are saying they are great with no comparison as many have done then it’s not a review. They are product placements. The totems are better speakers imo . You may just be slagging me off as someone who gives others a better review is an affront to an ego. That’s why normally, I perceive, I get these types of comments
@@13thnotehifireviews7 Are you for real? I'm not entitled to an opinion? I've just said that my finding of the speakers are nothing like you've described. 🤷♂️ I'm not going to waste my time writing a full review on your page. All I will say is that people should go and listen for themselves. People who are discounting the product based upon your bizarre review need to think again.
Best video on Wiim so far because as you said, others don’t really talk about the app. I have one question. Can I search for an internet station within the app? Thanks.
This was such a great overview, still relevant today I think. Would love to have your impressions on an updated version of this. Maybe with something of the new Hypex Nilai modules, or Nupime amps 🙏🏼
Supernait 1 was my first amp, and I still feel a pang of regret for selling that beautiful piece. It brought so much joy and warmth to my listening experience. I moved on to an Accuphase, but it left me disappointed. Now, I've switched to an all-in-one solution with the NAD M10. It's convenient, but I know deep down that if the NAD ever fails, I'll go back to the Supernait. That amp was unparalleled, giving me countless hours of relaxation and joy, even at low volumes. The rhythm and style of the classic Naim are simply unbeatable, and you can find them second-hand in superb condition. Plus, it pairs perfectly with my British Spendor D7.2. I don't understand the fascination with tube amps. Every time I had the chance to listen to them, I felt they offered less control, more distortion, and were overpriced. I also don't get where the idea comes from that they're difficult to drive speakers with. In my 30m² room, even with several speakers, I barely hit the 12 o'clock mark on the volume regulator. The Supernait had everything I needed and more, and it remains unmatched in my heart.
Great review You think you got all you could get with that amp? I would think if you had unlimited budget you could keep climbing. Idk. I got a pair of these with the loke about 9 months ago and still have yet to hear them….. long story but been saving up for a dan Dagistino amp.
Hello there, I'm Zuddama and I need help. Yesterday I wanted to listen to an album on YT that I had listened to and really enjoed, but I can't find it because I forgot the name. I remember the cover was a bit dark, maybe of a city and there were elements of orange and pink and blue tones on the other side. It was like ambient music of the past century, probably 70s or 80s. I remember that one of the first tracks lasts about 4 minutes and was pretty scary. I found that album on a YT rare music channel. I hope I remember well what I just wrote. In case you have any ideas, please let me know. Thanks
Hello, please someone help me. How do I connect my Mojo 2 to my Samsung S24 Ultra phone? I'm really struggling. What do I need and what are the steps. I hope someone can help me. God willing.
The Allo DigiOne would need an Amp though, wouldn't it? I'm trying to build a DIY raspberry pi based streamer and I'm seeking for info on the best components to add to a raspberry-pi 4 that I'm yet to purchase and a set of Jamo S803 speakers that I own
