The "crumble and die" is very hype-inducing the first time you hear it. It takes a good amount of practice to get there and you can tell that's when it starts getting desperate to kill you.
I never realised I had this in my collection, it's literally my most favorite OST of the game in chiptune. It's better than finding 20 lost bucks in my pocket
I love how many of the names for mechanics in this fight are based on outdated or largely discredited scientific theories (caloric theory, superchain theory/superstring theory, etc.). It's a subtle reinforcement of how wrong Athena is.
It's even more than that, in Phase 1 her ability names are named after not yet proven hypotheses (String Theory) while in Phase 2 she uses disproven scientific theories not because she is wrong but because she thinks that is how the world should be and now that she has the power to change it she actually alters reality so it fits her liking, when she uses caloric theory you resolve it more or less how people thought caloric theory worked.
Every time I listen to this song I start to tear up. When I played HW and post patch ARR I was cracking jokes with my gf, but deep down it affected me emotionally in ways I could never have comprehended. You never know what you have until it's gone. This is so beautiful. Oh my gods.
Thank you for all the stuff you do Bwaaa. I link you to people who like this game but don't have time or ability to play. They get to enjoy the spectacle and the music without anything else to distract thanks to your work put into these uploads. No distractions, just FFXIV.

@Banana-cc5rx SPOILERS BELOW Basically Athena was the one who found the heart of the sabik, in the past way before our time. However The Heart of Sabik corrupts people and Athena was together with lahabrea and she became kinda crazy wanting to become a god. So because of this she can use the spell Ultima like how Lahabrea does during the ultima weapon fight because he channels the heart. There's also a running theory that the Heart of Sabik is a fragment from the final boss of the Rabanastre alliance raid.
