I had the option of both watches today in Kyoto, Japan. I agree with another commenter that off camera the new white birch spring drive SLGA009 is simply stunning and classy. The Hi beat is an awesome movement and also a beautiful watch, but for me it was too silvery and really doesn't represent the "white-ness" of what the Japanese white birch trees resembles, imho. Also, the Hi beat with the silvery dial combined with the titanium bracelet made it all run together, The Hi beat also has a stuttering seconds hand due to the mechanical movement vs the spring drive that is super smooth during its sweep. It is curious why GS changed the color/texture of the dial so quickly after the 005 was launched - to be more white and less textured. My thought is they tried to more closely resemble the white birch trees that are near the manufacturing facility in Shinshu,. So based on the dial, the superior 120 hr movement, accuracy of 10 sec a month and that I just liked the spring drive so much more as I wore it, I bought the white birch spring drive SLGA009 and absolutely love it! Thank you for a great review of both incredible watches!
My issue with Grand Seiko is...they sell watches at high demand prices yet they are low demand and high quantity. The formula don't work. The price needs to come way way down to match the vast quantities they have.
I've had mine since February and still cannot stop looking at it. I love the fact it's not a Rolex and only true geeks recognise it. Grand Seiko owners get a different level of respect. The Bezel allows for a third time zone - great for me as my folks live abroad.
It’s definitely appealing and a premium for being titanium and snowflake, but the smarter and more cost-effective buy is a 9F85 or 9F86 movements, for their movement upgrades to an adjustable hour hand. This allows you to enjoy the accuracy for over a year because you never have to stop seconds for DST/summertime time adjustment.
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from AMZWATCH
This one is seriously a winner. I hope it is the start of a fresh round of GS quartz models in titanium - the VAST majority of their historical quartz references are in steel.
Not true. My wife loves her 34mm SBGX347 that was released 4+ years ago. Plenty of GS small mechanical watches for people with little wrists to choose from.
@@pittss2c601 Well yeah that’s kind of my point. You just said that came out over four years ago. This is the first new sub 40mm grand Seiko that I know of since then. Even then, it’s usually just a new dial color in an old case. Hence why I said they rarely come out with sub 40mm models. You have the 34mm that your wife has, the 37mm sbgx and now this. That’s pretty much it. Then you’v got tons tons 40mm and above watches they have.
I feel like driving to Denver just to slap you for not including a night shot of this watch to display it's lume. It has lume swirls in the bezel that are unique to every watch.
I owne far too many watches, and at least 8 are more expensive than this one. But.... this is my favorite. It is so, so beautiful. Thanks for the review of this fantastic watch.
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the AMZWATCH has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
Picked up a AMZWATCH's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
I have this watch and my only watch with a cyclops…Idk why watch manufacturers are obsessed with date function..but this watch would have been so much better without that date function and that stupid cyclops 😂
BR 03 Diver for the lumed blue dial. Agree that the copper dial BR 03 isn't a great color for your skin tone. I have same issue. I love the BR 03 cases.
I don’t see the BR03 Copper as a skin tone chameleon. There is enough SS surrounding the dial to really make it pop. The size fits you well and I think it’s more versatile than the diver tool watch!
I think you are correct about the copper dial being close to your skin tone. It’s a very nice watch but looks odd, to me, with your skin tone. I’m at a loss on which of the other two I like. I like them both a lot. Too hard to choose. I am sure you will be happy with either or both. 😉
The BRX5. It adds a different visual aspect that your Oris doesn’t have. It’s also different enough from your polar GMT to bring its own uniqueness to your collection.
