Bravo, Trevor Paglen. Never heard a better description of Smithson. Situates the work in so much more depth. Among the best art lectures I've experienced.
Saw the performance at Dia Beacon. It was riveting, and very moving, from the dance to the music, and Matthew’s lovely painted backdrop. Creative genius at work.
The interviewer does not seem like she has engaged full-heartedly with Rosler's works and and understood them in-depth. Would appreciate more nuanced and to-the-point questions.
Richard Serra's work is so impressive. Almost otherworldly. It's a total immersion of space and form. I've seen some of his sculptures while working at MoMA and at the Dia Art Foundation in Beacon. I used to take a ride from Grand Central to Dia Beacon just to see his sculptures on my day off. It was surreal and one of a kind experience. Definitely one of my favorite artists. Rest in peace.
Thanks for posting this. I know videos like these don't get very much exposure on youtube, but the people you seek out this specific information are really glad to find it.
I cannot say this enough: FUCK Dia... ...but DAMN. This was the best Agnes Martin talk I've been able to find online. THANK YOU JENNIE C. JONES. This was dynamite.
He left his individual sign, and artworks of contemporary art. Using plastics, fabrics and natural lights, He explores the surroundings environments, creating beautiful gardens to give the natural sense,we are looking for to constrast with the installations. A massive project indeed. Based in art and not in an architectural project. Beautiful in all sense! Light, art, gardens, space, you name it
Nick Serota curated a really fine Judd show at Tate Modern, which included one particularly late anodised work that really struck me, which seemed to glow and dematerialise with ethereal light inside a perfectly milled aluminium cube. Shame Judd didn't live longer to realise more of those. But my most powerful encounter with a Judd n London was at the original Saatchi gallery in st Johns wood. An immense former paint factory with a vast empty floor and natural lighting above, with just one long wall work, a multiplicity of birch ply boxes that seemed to thicken the air around them, as they progressed through various partitioned combinations, articulating space, light and shadow. A precursor perhaps to the future masterpiece at Marfa.
I love this man, i don't think i will be able to love anyone the way i love him, the way my heart feels happy everytime i see him, the way i feel safe and comfortable whenever i hear his voice, even if i try my whole life to put it into words i will never be able to describe the way he makes me feel. I respect him and love him and will always be there for him until my last breath 💜
