Man - no band could fuck with the Paladins in their prime- Dave was Eddie Cochran meets Stevie Ray Vaughan - seen them 11 times, they always brought the heat! Love them.
Loved playing in these dive bars and clubs back in the late 70's thru the 80's and well into the 90's and then they all started disappearing around where I live. Safety in numbers in the inner cities still did OK but the DUI laws killed the old roadhouses flipped to weekend concert halls. So many night walking out and loading gear troopers would be sitting in the damn lots on the ones on the state routes, You know the old truck stops that were replaced by the new ones on the interstate system. they were trying to survive as grub hubs in the day and bars at night.
Bob and Dave were staff songwriters with Mel Tillis in the early-mid 80's, as I was too. I learned SO much from these guys... who had several well deserved hits with other major acts (Alabama, Don Williams among many others). RIP Bob... your pal, ws
I can't believe this! Thank you so much for posting! Blew my mind! This is so near and dear to my heart. Robbie Eason on Guitar, Lee Campbell on drums, and yours truly Joey Jazdzewski on bass. There isn't much video out there from this era... I played with Harman for 6 years. So sad he is gone... Robbie and I joined his band straight out of high school, joining James's band was like getting my masters degree in the blues. Man, brotha' you just sent me tripping down memory lane.
i'm a big fan of your work for years, sir. The video 'igot news for you' (where you're also stylin' for eternity) hit me hard. Fantastic groove. All the best. Cheers from france.
Wow so cool you have played with icepick, and my favorite years of James Harman band Recordings I was fortunate to book him and arrange a pickup at the airport in a 60’s Chrysler with 727 Torque flight he really enjoyed it and talked about his drag racing years
I met Al Snyder on July 17th, 1980. "I'm in a band," he told me. Changed my life! We became good friends. I was lucky enough to see so many Corbin/Hanner performances. I was so sad when Dave Freeland left the band. Then Bob left, then came back, then Kip left. Curt was a good replacement! I miss those concert nights! The 4th of July is coming up, and shouldn't we be going to a concert in Ford City? 😅 I have so many wonderful memories of this band. Thank you to each and every one of you, especially Al! ❤️
