I've been a true crime freak for over 40 years (way before it was cool) and one thing I learned is: It's all but impossible to keep a secret like this in such a town, but I think if it's a local person, Springfield could use an operator like that guy who did "Your Own Backyard" podcast or maybe it was called "My Own Backyard" ??? But he solved the Kristin Smart disappearance in CA.

I was in like 3,4,and 5 th grade on of those when he was still a sub and he was really creepy. My brother said if he was the last one in the room or during a test he would put peppermints in his hood and just try touching his shoulders or smiling creepily. Personally he never did anything to me except smile creepily or just look at me
