My wife and I just finished watching your video from the SAF Nex Gen 2024 seminar. Our memories flash backed to the mid 80’s when we attended our first FTD Young owner manager event. It was an exciting learning experience meeting fellow florists from around the country sharing ideas , swapping stories, and enjoying the fellowship of the florists. Fast. Forwarding to today, two of our children now run our 50 year journey at Jacques, after the original Jacques family ( father and daughter ) had a 64 year run. We sent our three older granddaughters to San Diego to experience the flower business through a different set of eyes , enough of Nanny and Grampy, mom and uncle. On their first day of return, they posted a picture in Facebook of our shop in spring of 2023 , fillled with annuals, perennials, rose bushes etc , the next few pictures were of buckets of California field flowers ( from the farms they visited) and invitation to come visit our shop in the coming weeks for a wonderful display of California flowers delivered every week fresh to our shop . My wife and I were thrilled to hear of their plan, but more importantly, they were stepping up to keep our shop the go to florist for fresh flowers ! Thank you for taking the time to visit the seminar and tell a story !!
These 4 3rd party companies will not lost longer cuz they make way more money then florist no flower shop is happy with them they charge florist 30% plus mamber and cities they keep customers delivery money for them at the end they be making over 70% from every order florist buy flower vase n got delivered and only making 25% thts a big scam
I got rid of all these wire services a few ago. The best thing I ever did.these call centers want a beautiful art for no money. I got tired of doing all the work for fed and other wire services and never getting a check.
I believe there is more than 15% of the FTD network that is unhappy. Here's the problem. I have had orders come in from From You Flowers, they are underpriced, and not by just a bit. If I fulfill that order, then I am sending out an order that is underpriced and then I'm giving up 27% of that underfilled order to them, and also paying the monthly fee to be a member of the network. If there is a problem with the order- our shop is the one on the hook for it. In the circle of florists that I know, we are tired of doing business with companies that have an e-commerce site only and do not participate in the actual floral business. They make a profit and the florist does the work. As an industry, what I see is florists creating their own unique sites and by-passing the send-only companies. These companies aren't working for us-- they are taking the profit out of our business. They over promise and undersell. It's not a sustainable business model for a retail flower shop.
Spot on, underpriced orders LOL - loss of money or reputation, not a good deal to me. FTD had higher priced orders at least, but this cheap item specific crap FYF sends is ridicilous. It's NEVER going to be positive with those cheap race to the bottom prices.
Chris nailed on the statement, organize your business so you can scale. Processes and procedures out rule everything. Preproduction of arrangements definitely helps you scale.
Rosaprima grows very high and consistent quality roses with excellent varieties! CPF is honored and proud to carry your fine products! Looking forward to seeing your new products too. Great interview. Thank you.
I have been buying from Castle Hayne for almost 30 years. Art Hommes was my sales person in the beginning. They are great people and the product is always wonderful.
It's great to watch Rene ...he has so many attributes, but his passion and love for the industry always stands out and has such inspirational ideas to share with others! He is one of my florist heroes!
