Just a siren enthusiast and railfan from Southeast Texas who works on HVAC. Due to the accessible sirens in my immediate area being inactive (like the Thunderbolt in my profile picture) siren videos will not be posted as often as I would like.
@@SETX_Sirens_and_Rail_02 I am guessing this is a eastbounds on the MoPac, westbounds on the SP operation due to freight traffic volume with UP and BNSF as well? I have never been out there, but after tracing the route of the Amtrak train, got me wondering. Thx for the response.
Actually this day was one of those times it ran east on the old SP. The reason they do things the way they do is because some years ago, UP made the SP line (now the Houston Sub) primarily westbound to Houston and the old MoPac line (the Beaumont Sub) primarily eastbound to Beaumont
I was there on May 28th before a severe thunderstorm warning occurred. The train was stopped when I was on my way home from Saint Arnold. The WCH Type 3 E-Bell on the near signal still sounds sick for years. I hope it will be fixed or replaced. Not to mention, I used to live near this crossing.
Nice!! Never thought I'd see this happen. Though I will say its absolutely disgusting that there is a fake electric steam whistle for crossings as well as the real steam whistle. Like why is there both!!??
I'm told the manual valve one (a replica of its original Nathan 6-chime) is louder at slow speeds and the air operated one (from a Selkirk Class) is louder at higher speeds
This crossing shares the relay case with Church Street. The lights and bells all go at the same time but since the train was southbound the gates at Church go first.
It is a 6032. It used to have two MCP controllers on it before and now one UV. Reason being is that the MCP could only do up to 2400 watts while the UV can do 3200. Tyler's system is all 6032s and 6048s with two or three 8032s
Oh yeah, the old system voice test has been officially retired and replaced with the new system back in late 2022 for Tyler, and 2 years later it had the 4 booping sound when it started, and now switched to full alert mode, same with whenever a tornado warning was issued too. However the sirens are still the same, but with a new system that they updated to
@@MattTheUPRailfan2006 The OCS should be returning back north by the weekend. Just keep watch on the heritage units app as someone will be reporting its whereabouts
I thought for sure that Trane switched away from the old GE weathertron style and into the more recent XE style chassis in 87 or 88. Didn't expect to see one from 86 with that style look
