I was 17 when when this bike was new and a couple of my friends had one but I always hated the sound they made. Me, I had a BSA Lightning followed by a Triumph Trident which were both trouble free and didn’t leak oil. Never got into the UJM thing at all and my first Japanese bike many years later was a Yamaha VMax which most definitely was not a UJM.
I bought my first new bike exactly like this one in 1972. I put 23000 miles on it in two and 1/2 years and never had any trouble with it. I sold it to my brother that talked me out of it. Many good memories on it. Thanks for sharing.

@@harveybowden Understood, but do keep in mind I'm offering in US Dollar terms, which is worth about 13% more than just three years ago versus the pound sterling. As to the license plate, I'd be willing to let you keep that. I don't believe it's transferrable to California anyway.
Mark is a great guy. Great machine rebuilds and very helpful. He is also the guy who first tracked down the key to dating Wadkins - allowing us to work out when our Wadkins were made. Cheers from New Zealand.
Wadkin kit is some of the best. Mark salvaged flooring from the Wadkin green lane works and installed it into his shed. Double boost is a character. So is Mr Crispin.
Whoever bought it has relisted on eBay, sad cool bikes like this end up in the wrong peoples possession and not proper enthusiasts like yourself. Would like one myself to sit beside my MC21 SP cabin and NC35
So it went for 7300 which in my mind is a bargain. these bikes values may be rising but they still haven't caught up with the OEM prices yet. When you look at something a little older, CB750K0 for instance a mint condition one will set you back around 10x the 1970 price.
