This is a fantastic video! I worked at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center, Palmdale since 2014, where I provide safety support for SOFIA and all the airborne science aircraft. I got to be around the aircraft and the people who support her. This video gives a great presentation of SOFIA and the science missions she flew. I am honored to have played a small part in the day to day activities to fly her missions. Thank you Dan and Nick for sharing this great work.

@@aircraftexpeditions Yes great news both remaining Mars are being saved. The Hawaii is staying here on Vancouver Island in it’s red and white water bomber Colour’s while Philippine is going to Pima in it’s original US navy colours. Looking forward to seeing your film coverage of it. 👍

As a kid I used to love to go looking through the windows of this beast. Unfortunately you can't do that anymore with the windows painted over. Still a beast for its time.

I am sad that I never got to see one of these B-58's fly. I grew up camping near Plattsburg NY and watching B-52's and KC-135's fly overhead during the 60's. One of my favorites for sure.

I always Thought The Hustler was ahead of its time. They Need To Bring it back Modernized (Evil Grin) Honestly I think with Updated Engineds and Updated Avionics and Airframe Design and enhancement Changes, I think Convair would have gotten it right. Since the Remnants of the Convair Aersoace Corporation is Now Owned By Lockheed Martin. L-M Would definately Be the one to revive the Design. Would be definately knock out some of the current Bombers succh as the B-1B Lancer and would be back with its big Brother the B-52. Now that the B-52J Models are coming into being, i think the B-58 Would make a dent in Strategic Bombers. Great Comments Guys Keep Em Coming!

My Dad worked at Convair from 1950-1966 and I grew up hearing the B-36 fly over our house and shaking the walls!! Quite an enjoyable memory!!

yes it did the hull has a magnetic charge on it, which makes it radar profile almost nothing and it also allows it to achieve a higher top end speed

Your technical incite is great Bob, but I think you'll find the F-15 in this story had a very specific problem that it overcame. Check it out!
