Our two-acre farm in the Michigan countryside is where we live and work, along with our dog Crystal. We are a married couple who enjoy doing DIY projects. We have a tractor, tools and skills that help us with various tasks, such as keeping chickens and cultivating a garden.
Yeah I could do that, but since it's not my tractor, I would feel the need to replace the bolt and leave the tractor better than I received it. Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate you.
You're right. After being left handed my whole life and dragging my hand through everything I write on, I should learn. Just need to slow down a bit. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
How do you like that 474? I thinking about one. Most youtube videos about them seem to be sponsored by TYM showing zero issues or problems but forums seem to be mixed about poor dealer support and parts availability. Just wondering how yours has been. Thanks for the video.
I love my 474. It's a great machine. That said I have had a couple problems along the way. But nothing any other tractor brand hasn't had. The first thing the day it was delivered, it wouldn't get hot enough to defrost its own windows. Turns out there was an air bubble in the coolant line in the roof. I drained and refilled the cooling system and it's been fine ever since. Then it wouldn't regenerate but after contacting my dealer, he was aware of an issue and overnighted me the wiring harness piece to fix the issue. Simple plug and okay fix. It's only needed to regen once in 166 hours. I just found a new issue yesterday, that may be a larger deal, and I'll be contacting the dealer tomorrow to inquire about how big of a problem it is and what to do about it. I'll probably make a video showing the journey. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Feel free to stay in contact. This is my 3rd tractor in about 20 years. I'm glad to share what I can to help make sure you get a good one. I appreciate you. Greg
If you are going JD then be prepared to pay exorbitant prices for parts related to maintenance. I do not know how farmers can make a living with this gouging that is going on. And asked the big farmers how it is going with the Proprietary JD software. Another gouging point. Here is a story for you, true story, farmer got a "warning code" show up on his dash, phones local dealer who advises him to phone JD directly because they can not identify the code. So he phones JD and they advise for them to identify the code for him they require $150.00. So he give them his credit card. The code says "take tractor in for dealer maintenance". Last word was his, he was so pissed off at JD that he took the tractor in and traded it for a competitors. Believe it or not. Your choice.
Oh, I'm not actually going green any longer than it took to do the maintenance on my buddies' 1025R tractor. I proudly run TYM and am very happy with the price, quality, and service. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment, I appreciate you! Greg
I've only done one in the 160 hours I've used the tractor. That came at 148 hrs. I almost always run at 1,700 RPM. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
I agree. I had a 25 hp McCormick with larger wheels and tires and that made that tractor so much more capable. If I could have afforded to keep that and get my TYM cab tractor I would have done so. Thanks for watching and subscribing. I appreciate you.
You should of installed a small shut off valve were small filter was and moved the small filter further up on the fule line. Would make changing it easier next time.
You are absolutely right. You'd think Deere would have done that from the factory and located it in a convenient safe place. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
Thanks so much. We really enjoy them. I'm hoping to add 4 more to the flock this year. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. By the way I enjoy your channel.
@@BuddyG54 Sounds good! I'm sure at some point I'll be getting into chickens, but too much to do right now!! Thanks for checking out our stuff too! That's awesome to hear!
That's a great idea. If my garage wasn't so cluttered I'd have done that. I bet that little wheel went 250 to 300. I was really surprised. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I appreciate you 👍
Nope I'm not a mechanic. Just a DIY guy, but everything I work on continues to work and if it's broke, I fix it. Been doing it my whole life. Including race cars in NASCAR, Indy Car, CART, IMSA and Trans Am Series. 🏁 Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
They are good tractors. But for what I was looking for and the money I had available, the TYM T474 checked all the boxes. What a great machine. Thank you for watching and commenting I appreciate you!
@@BuddyG54 we were looking for tractor for side walks and the price of them were rediculas at deere here for a 1025 they were wanted $89,800 for it wich was way pricey for a compact tractor for sidewalks so we bought a 49hp kubota l4760 with blower, bucket and pallet forks we got it for $30,000 on trade on the old 6210r pls $1,000 off the snowblower and $500 off the bucket and $500 off on forks wich was alot cheaper and good savings too with 6 year warranty free
Leave the black hose and 2 clamps alone. Just remove the allen head bolt and remove the coupling from the housing. There is just enough room to get it out and to pull out the tubular screen
I was going to do that. It's a great idea, I bet it would have worked better after using the heat gun to soften the rubber hose a little. But I was considering camera views and trying to give good views. That can make you do things a little different. But I'm still learning this RU-vid thing, and guys like you that comment and share how they would do it or have done something is a big help to me. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
😂 Those are cheap rubber gloves for sure! But hydraulic oil burns my skin for some reason. Thanks for watching, now check out the other two! I appreciate you brother!
I have to admit I'm surprised. Tractor Time with Tim makes them look so capable. I can say from experience that my previous tractor a stock 25hp McCormick would outwork a stock 1025R. I still think they are a good choice for the homeowner that wants to mow lawns, clear snow, and till a garden. I think the T25 or 2515 from TYM are a better choice if someone is looking for a good capable 25hp tractor for those jobs plus landscaping etc. Thanks for commenting and watching! I appreciate it!
@@michaelmactavish4445 that's awesome you found those deals. My friend and I were talking tractors and he built a Deere that was comparable to my TYM for comparison I think it was a 5 series and was $20,000 more if he was reading everything right.
@@BuddyG54 thats like we did got rid of the green and got a new kubota because the deere dealer was not giveing good trade value and tryed sell us a 1025R and it was rediculas the deere wanted wich they wanted $89,800 for it wich we wernt happy at the deere and its a pain to work on so we see the kubota dealer take the old deere tractor in and gave us a fair good trade and the kubota was 10 times way less then the deere and was nice with kubota the dealer took $1,000 off the snowblower and $500 off the bucket and $500 off the forks wich was nice the kubota saved us $2,000and the l4760 49hp cab with loader cost us only $30,000 for the package wich was cheaper then paying $89,800 at deere
@@michaelmactavish4445 you know, our 48hp TYM was about $30k out the door and it was loaded. I spent a year looking at other brands and had my heart set on a cab tractor for the first time ever. TYM checked all the boxes. I'm very pleased with our 474 and my wife and I both felt it was a very reasonable price for what we got.
I really hope your John Deere dealer has a better warranty service. I had a hood latch break free from my 1025R (25 hours and 4 months old). I called my Florida dealer to confirm it was covered under warranty. They said yes. Instead of taking the whole tractor in, I removed the hood and went to the dealer. Now the dealer said I voided the warranty for doing service myself. I was pissed. But luckily, I called my old dealer from when I lived in Indiana, and they said send the hood to them and they would cover it. I got a brand-new hood and they even picked up the cost of shipping.
That's one of the biggest reasons people buy green is for great dealer support. Sorry you had to deal with that. On that pioneer fitting on the front loader that went bad at only a year old and 104hrs , I had to fix it myself and pay for the part ($22). I'm personally sticking with TYM. Thank you for watching. I appreciate you.
Let me share an awful JD dealer story. A friend of mine bought a used 60ish hp Deere with a factory cab. Tractor had over 1000 hours on it. Immediately was hard to start. Deere dealer came and hauled it back to their shop. Dealer ended up rebuilding the engine at zero cost to my friend. The tractor had over 1000 hours on it. Most people who bad mouth Deere are simply not willing to pony up the $. BTW, why wasn't the oil changed before 100 hours when the cost of materials is minimal? The tractor was obviously used in dusty conditions .
@@scottnugent4791 I'm not sure. It's not my tractor. My understanding is the dealer did the 50hr stuff. As you can see, the air filter was the only thing in poor condition. Ken has done a great job of keeping the tractor and loader greased. It spends it's life mostly mowing the lawn so of course it's going to need air filter service more often. I'd like to hear more about your friends tractor. That's great that he got that kind of service. Thanks for commenting.
@@BuddyG54 dealer said the tractor was good. Within a few hours of use, it became hard to start. Dealer picked it up and diagnosed the problem . Two cylinders had very low compression. New engine in that size would have taken a few weeks to get. They did a full rebuild at zero cost to my friend. I don't see how p poor dealers stay in business. I live within 30 minutes of 5 Deere dealers and also their major parts distribution center. About 40 minutes from their world headquarters. Interesting place to visit.
You know you're right. I didn't think it would be that tight, but my heat gun would have made it loads easier. Next time yell louder at the screen so I can hear you 😂 Thanks for watching I appreciate you.
Kansas city. Those spills will happen. Now retired im more prone to take time to go get the right funnel rather than risk it. Thats the perfect world that is easier said than sometimes done 😊
Yeah I have a better funnel around here somewhere. As you may have noticed my place is pretty cluttered right now. Winter is always bad for clutter around here with so many things going in the garage because it's heated. This RU-vid thing came up quick after being inspired by a few of the youtubers we met in Louisville at the National Farm Machinery Show last month. I jumped in with both feet. I'm mostly retired so I should have my stuff together by summer. I hope. LOL! Thank you for talking your time to watch and comment. Much appreciated.
@@BuddyG54 yeah one step at a time. I just moved most of my stuff and have a long way to go on organization. Remember. A cluttered desk is the sign of a genious. I didn't notice but it can't be worse than mine 😆
I needed a smaller open station tractor for this video series because my TYM cab tractor won't fit in my garage. My buddy offered me his for a while, so I'll do my service outside the garage on the TYM when our weather improves, and take care of his Deere in the garage out of the weather now. Thank you for commenting and watching!
10-4, and one that isn't such a pain in the butt. You can bet that if that thing flows hydraulic fluid as slow as motor oil, I'll be cutting that little screen out! Thanks for commenting and watching!
