The history of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) dates back to 1904 when it started as a technical school in Kuala Lumpur. Over the decades, it evolved into a full-fledged technical college, offering engineering and architecture programs, and later became Institut Teknologi Kebangsaan in 1972. In 1975, it was officially declared as UTM, with continued expansion in academic faculties and student enrollment. The university moved to its current campus in Skudai, Johor in 1985 and has since become a leading institution in science and technology in Malaysia.
