*2024 UPDATE!* - Note that I'm still a passionate language teacher, language teacher trainer and pedagogical innovator. However, I've moved my focus to my other RU-vid channels which focus more on educational technology: Teach Ahead and Learn Ahead.
There are still LOADS of resources for iTalki and Preply teachers, but these channels focus less on my (Ryan's) individual teaching experiences and more on growing a COMMUNITY of passionate online educators.
So, I still browse comments from time to time, but don't be worried if you see no new uploads or posts. I couldn't be more grateful to the amazing supporters on this channel and I hope to continue growing together, making the difference we wish to see inside and outside of the online classroom.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend italki anymore. 4 years ago this was a better platform. Nowadays teachers and pupils have to run after their money. As a teacher I am not paid for all my lessons due to italkis caprice and when a lesson cannot be done because of sickness of the teacher, the pupils won't get their money back, because it is stored in an online-wallet by italki to be used for another appointment. The conditions have gotten worse for teachers during the last 4 years and this process is going on and on. Each month they show up with another idea to make the conditions worse for the teachers, it's insane.
Very incisive analysis of the dichotomy between TESL and C-TESOL. Your vlog unearthed pertinent information on the significance of glorious C-TESOL explaining why it is important or worthwhile. I, inadvertently, bumped into your video but surprisingly found it to be a go-to source for teachers aspiring to take their career forward with advanced certification at a Canadian university.
If I’m half Thai and can speak the language and know the history and culture, would I still be expected to sit through the 8 hour indoctrination courses?

I wanted to ask you how the severity levels work now, and how to avoid that as I have never missed a lesson but I missed a lesson request and I got an email with a warning
I don't know why but you are actually so easy to listen to. No offense but your filming quality is not great, but your personality and aura just radiate so warmly that it's comfortable taking direction from you.
I appreciate your honesty. I moved to Bogotá from the US found a teaching position after I arrived. I went with an agency as well but no fees were involved. I do have to pay for my visa ($300) but will be reimbursed after 6 months.
