My God-Brother is still a serving member of the British-Chinese Soldiers....(Even after 97!) He had served the British "Cause" for the best years of his life and had sworn an OATH of loyalty to serve only the U.K. CROWN. In times of Civil Unrest and Insurrection in H.K. he is compelled to fight for the Crown; Only!!!!.... And if in A British Uniform He can be Shot-On-Sight by the Mainland Chinese as a SPY! Yes Really!!! But; because of his ethnicity he can never serve higher than an NCO. As they say....straight from the Horses Mouth..... And before U ask....I did 3 years for Queen and Country Too..... If there is NO racism in the U.K. how come there is only one Chinese M.P. (Alan Mak.) MP for Havant. Southern England! P.S. See the film; Tricks-On-The-Dead! Released 2013. World War One Stuff!

Not sure where your claim they can only serve to NCO level comes from....

Mr Liu, were you a member of the HKMSC?

The film was specially made for Mr Liu Kwok Kin. Since both of their surname are LIU, most likely Kent and Liu Kwok Kin are the same person and being a member of the HKMSC at that time. Ngong Shuen Chau Naval Base is now part of the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison. Anyhow, I still miss the good golden days of British Hong Kong when I was stationed there.

L M It would seem logical to agree with you. As one can see from this footage and other footage on YT, the HKMSC and the RHKR(V) are prime examples of how Hong Kong people can manage their own defense affairs. It brings great sadness to see how almost 21 years of post-Handover rule has resulted in many of the esteemed and admirable ranks to be forgotten, with the SAR government failing to address the roles played by both units during those golden days. Thank you for your service to the Hong Kong people and to our great city. One very much wishes to have had the opportunity to wear the Queen's uniform and serve our territory. One hopes for the day when Hong Kong people will have that opportunity again, and walk the streets as free-thinking citizens.

Thanks for your kind appraisals. Hongkongnese are naturally born with talents and are quick learners. They are really gentlemen, paying due respect to each other and are quick learners too. After the 1997, I had visited HK several time and noticed that everywhere in HK is clouded of people who are non-Cantonese speakers. Also, I found I had communication problems during my last visit 3 years ago. In fact, Hongkongnese are hard working people with the exception that it seems the government has overlooked or neglected the people's desires and want. Apparently the future and hopes of HK are entirely relying on our next generations but not the govt. Anyway, that's life.

Let this footage serve as an example of how Hong Kong people can serve Hong Kong. No more should people believe Hong Kong cannot have an army, the professional conduct and smart drill stands as a staunch example of such ability.

@@eugene7145 Is it really. You think raising any army is about getting a bunch of people to sign up, teach a little drill, march them around in uniform that's it? Do you know what logistics means. You know why historians have regarded Hong Kong as indefensible after the Battle of Hong Kong. Do you know what Command and Control means? You think any Hong Konger has had any experience commanding an army at the Brigade or Division level? You think you could find any experienced person who could plan and run a combined operation locally. And which foreign army you reckon would be willing to be your trainer and adviser then? You think these ex-rankers know what this all means? Do explain and tell if you are so brilliant.

Is this about the British army Jacob keppler
@cinimodification
@cinimodification 6 лет назад
Jacob Keppler This is a passing out parade of the Hong Kong Military Service Corps, which was once a British Army unit serving the British Forces Overseas Hong Kong. The unit consisted of mainly LEPs (Locally Enlisted Personnel) which is why the servicemen are Hong Kong Chinese men dressed in British Army uniforms (and handling British Army L1A1 SLRs). The unit was disbanded before the Handover of Hong Kong in 1997, note how the parade drill and skill-at-arms is miles better than that of the current People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison. Much respect to these gallant men for their service to Hong Kong.
