I love so much Gershwin’s melodies… R. Bennett did a nice work with this arrangement, using some of them from the outstanding and unfortunately overshadowed opera.
Fantastic performance~! This Bennett version is my favorite than Catfish Row version. I bought a casette tape of Dorati with Detroit SO long ago and this live performance shows more live feelings than studio recording. Bravo~~!!
Xian Opera Orchestra and Chorus? the director should not have picked this one, it is far too beyond of the professional level, the director should have picked something more manageble.
Nice job. I think the conductor missed opportunities on syncopation and tempos generally, were a bit too slow, in my opinion. I've heard this many times. I think Andre Previn had it nailed down with his recording with the Pittsburgh.
It sounded to me like they needed some more rehearsal time. This piece doesn't just play itself and the orchestra could have used a little more experience with it.
01:03 I don't know 02:39 Strawberry Woman's Song 03:37 Crab Man's Song 04:33 Clara, Clara Don't You Be Downhearted (Originally released on Decca 78s as "The Requiem") 07:08 Introduction/Overture 08:15 Summertime 11:08 I Got Plenty O' Nuttin' 12:45 Why You Been Out On That Wharf So Long, Clara (This is what the RCA recording labels this section as. Что делает дирижёр?Это смехота !Ноты возьми в руки ,он же просто машет ,что за схемы,путает доли .Сетка вообще не понятная ,дробит какие то доли которые вообще не нужно дробить это мешает!!!Мда
The is a great, great performance by any standard. So many beautiful details and the mood of each movement captured perfectly. Technically very economical, effective gestures getting the most out of the orchestra. Really masterful conducting.
Great shot of sour humor!!! Fortunately, the performance happened before the pandemic... In addition, the conductor is RICO SACANNI, almost RICO SACANA, expression which means in Portuguese, "GREAT BASTARD"... OK! Now putting aside the humor, I really enjoyed somewhat the performance, because it is not very common to see a very fixed and full image (almost like a painting) giving us the impression that we are sat somewhere among the audience. Unfortunately, the performance seems set in Lilliput, taking into account the apparent small size of the singers. Hugs
A great performance. Unfortunately the video camera was just FIXED at one location and the viewers could not have some close up view of the pianist !!!
