Hey brother, my son and I are working on our own Tron costume. I'm wondering how you made all the different shapes with the EL tape. Did you buy all the different sized EL pads? or combine several pieces to make larger sections?
@@brenthays2660 great question. The two upside down hockey stick shaped EL shapes on the chest were made with 2 pieces over lapping to form the L shape. In other words, each “hockey stick” is actually 2 straight pieces. Good luck!
Well if they made accurate it would be a very expensive and it would also be very difficult to build if you are a kid and some of the pieces wouldn’t really work and ect
My kid was out on Halloween trick-or-treating for hours and we didn’t have to replace the batteries even once that night. Maybe 4-5 hours? I would still highly recommend having spares ready. You just never know.
man you have me thinking this is possible even for me, I love the 82' version and bought a 2010 Ducati for when the movie came out. maybe help from friends and I can do this. great video
@buriedegg8636 It’s been 10 years since this video. Can you give an update on how your figures look, and that the stickiness never came back? I’m trying to determine if I should pay $40 for discontinued Black Magic Pro Shine or if there is another cheaper protectant that is safe and just as effective in 2024. None of them seem to be petroleum based anymore.
Hey thanks for asking! I just posted some pics in my Community Tab of those SAME figures today. They still look great and they are not sticky or tacky either. Joints still work fine. I would strongly recommend letting them air dry for about a week after applying. Don't store them in airtight plastic for years on end either: www.youtube.com/@buriedegg8636/community
Thanks for the kind words! All the Terminator figures in the video are from Hong Kong based manufacturer “Hot Toys”. They are 1/6 scale figures I purchased mostly through Sideshow Collectibles and eBay.
I’ve just been using the cheap $100 LED projectors from Amazon. I project onto a thin frosted shower curtain that hang over the windows. Hope this helps!
I am a competitive level cosplayer and I am trying to learn more about integrating lighting into my designs. You really helped demystify and motivate. You made an awesome costume for your son and I am glad you took the time to show us all on the internet
Hey "Dad who made something cool for their kid", You just helped a professional find his new EL supplier. Give yourself some more credit, everybody starts somewhere and you came out SWINGING!
i can see the toy isn’t accurate because the treads are segmented in the movie and some crain parts and the shoulder has segmented treads too. Making the actual mech much larger then the official toy
Hi, Brother, all the way from Malaysia. Great video by the way. It helps me with my Barney Ross"s sunglasses ( plastics sunglasses ), were slightly broken. In your opinion, can i apply the same technique where you use the small size screwdriver and also the strong glue as E6000?
My kid's Tron costume was $15.00. I took a Batman kids fabric costume and sewed elastic loops onto it. Then took thin, blue glow sticks from the $1 store and tread it thru the loops. It looked great for a kid. He was so happy.
Love the original Tron. Love Tron Legacy. I also watched the making of Tron original and legacy covering lots of aspect of the films but only touched upon the real life costumes which has led me to here. Fantastic work, you should definitely do more cosplay stuff and great informative video
Nice video! I have HT MMS239 black widow and the side leather on her outfit is so thin and fragile the air has damaged it over time and is now flaking off. Would you have any suggestions how to fix that by applying some kind of leather style paint/coating on to replace the original? As it's my favourite version of her and would rather not have to sell it. Thanks
I know this video is old so I might not get a response but I wanted to ask if I should try and glue a broken Plastic piece on my hot toys inferno Raiden. The broken piece is on of the spikes on the biggest shoulder pad the middle one snapped off when I was posing it. What should I do?
For that small piece I think your only option is using that Ambroid Proweld I demonstrated in the video. If you can’t find Ambroid here is a link to the replacement product on Amazon. It’s basically the same stuff: Plastruct Plastic Weld... www.amazon.com/dp/B00FDFWJD8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
That’s great to hear! My only recommendation in hindsight would be that you do NOT use the hot glue method to seal the soldered crimps to the EL Tape. Instead try clear packing tape or even electrical tape or gorilla tape to secure the crimps to the EL Tape. I think the hot glue actually separates the connections over time creating disconnects in the EL tape. Good luck!
I remember whenever I’d open A Vintage Star Wars figure back in The 1980’s One thing I remember , The Action Figures had Such A fresh Plastic type of smell they had And they actually smelled in A Strange way So Good !
Did you use a separate inverter per section, per light, or one for the entire costume? I am trying to use El Tape for a different wearable project. Anytime I connect more than one El Tape my lights get significantly dimmer. Subbed and liked.
One single power inverter for the entire costume. You need 12volts (8x AA batteries) for my costume. The basic 2x AA setup most EL Tape comes with (like from Amazon) will not be sufficient to power more than one tape strip. Hope that helps!
@@buriedegg8636 I think my problem might be the two prong wire split 5 ways that I got from Amazon. No matter what volt/amp battery I plug in the lights dim using the 5 way splitter. I though that would be a good parallel solution but it seems I was wrong.
This video saved my collection. I did my entire vintage Star Wars, Thundercats & He-Man figures to start and they look amazing. Black Magic Pro Shine is the way to go... except I don't think they manufacture it anymore, which stinks. But it's definitely the best product for this. Thanks for the vid!
The Garmadon Mech Lego Set it’s just so diferente from the movie, but I kinda understand it because if it would had be exactly as the movie the set would be insainly big and maybe even be the biggest Lego set of all time YEAH EVEN BIGGER THAN THE MILLENNIUM FALCON!
I an soooo doing this!!! I am in the furry fandom and my character is a tron legacy panther. So this is going to help me immensely!! Thank you very very much 😁 🥰🥰🥰
