AMEN!! 🙏 i always do this to myself where i put effort into things i have a gut feeling won’t work. Especially relationships and then I feel worse with the thought alone. But the truth is that we all have different standards and boundaries and wants can always change- which is okay! ❤️ i never wanna be ashamed for my decisions ever again
I met my military husband at age 22 and by 23 we were married. We are now 26 and 27 and through these few years we have experienced sooooo much from deployments to pcsing to tdys and some extremely scary health concerns due to the military lifestyle. Being in a military marriage is very hard and you really have to know yourself first before jumping in. And I remember just graduating college and right after that we were pcsing and I was thrown into either buying, renting a house or living on base and it was a challenging decision to make at such a young age.

My husband is 7 years older than me but I am in my 30's and he is in his 40's. We always appreciate the age gap to this day because it took us both a while to grow up, and we are still "growing up".
I myself was going to become a marine corps officer and I married an enlisted man after college instead. My mom always begged both me and my sister to at least wait until after college to get married. Military marriage is HARD!!!! I’ve basically raised our kids alone for long stretches of time with no support. I had to put him on a plane hours after my dad passed away. And then still had to be mom that night. We’ve been together for 14 years and we’ve come close to divorce in the past. He is now about to retire and we see the light at the end of the tunnel. Us both going to individual therapy has helped immensely and allowed us to both validate each other and ourselves and to take accountability…there’s no way I would have been able to grasp those concepts at 18/19 years old. And as bad as it is, this far into it, almost every wife I’ve ever met along the way, is no longer married to the man she was with when we met. Another thing I’ve seen is couples that marry young and the wives will complain and give their husbands an ultimatum because they don’t want them to stay in…so they get out of the military and realize civilian life isn’t any better and now there’s different pressures to take into account and they don’t survive that transition. I can also say, we’ve lived both lives on neither are peaches and cream but maturity is so vital with both. I’m 36 and he’s 38 and it’s still hard but the emotional maturity makes a difference. This was such an insightful video…🤍 I also think it’s values too…because guys and girls in other countries can handle complex mature situations and many marry young. Our American culture really doesn’t prepare us for life, I think that’s why we have to marry older in the US.
hey girly, i hope you remember me because I always comment and watch your videos. I’m going THROUGH IT rn. I recently broke up with my boyfriend of 8 months and i did the right thing because of my beliefs. Our religions are different, and I don’t feel as comfortable with him anymore as I used to have been. Did I do the right thing? Especially because he loved me so much even more than himself? I can’t get mad at him at all.
I am so sorry love! I know exactly what this feels like and you made the right choice. Your dream partner will be a match for you in all of the ways that are most important to you, including your religion. That's something that sounds like a non-negotiable for you, and if you're not aligned with your man in that area it would cause really big issues down the line. You have to ask yourself, would my future husband have a different religion from me? I know this is really hard especially with how much this man loves you. But there will be other men who love you just as much if not more and are a better religious match. Sending you so much love and just know it will get better. Focus on yourself and your faith in the meantime! 💕
This story is amazing. I made it through OCS in 1990. The Marine Corps taught me to push through pain and never give up, to, "Suck it up." Much like you, I had to deal serious pain while in OCS with compartment syndrome. I had to wake up 45 mins before everyone to soak my legs in ice baths. I honestly was in continuous pain. But, I made it through. But, after I retired, 30 years later, I went to medical school. It took me 4 years to get to medical school! It consumed me, I studied 16 hours a day, and eventually, I got into medical school. But, after the first 2 years, I was dismissed. I had trouble with passing my board exams. After 2 years of studying, quite litterally 16 hours a day, every time I took the exams, I would "phase out", like just blank out, I couldn't remember anything! Eventually, I was let go. I vowed to return so I studied on my own, reapplied, repeated another year, and again failed my board exams. I tried 3 times for 8 years to get through medical school, but every time I took the board exams, I would "Phase out" and go blank. Eventually, I sought help from the VA. Low and behold I had significant PTSD. Who knew that what I was having was a form of panic attacks! With the help of the VA, I discovered that it wasn't my fault. I had blamed myself for 6 years! Eventually, I accepted that it was out of my hands that I wasn't a loser! I am now content with my having "washed out" of medical school, I don't regret trying so hard, but it took time to come to the realization that some things are just out of your control. I don't mean to say my experience was exactly like yours... what I mean to say is that in the core of Marine officers' character is a determination that no matter what, we will NOT give up! Our DNA is common among us. We fight to finish; and to punish ourselves for not completing our mission. We don't quit! You did not quit. You fought! I have spoken to numerous fellow Marines over the years who went to OCS, and we all agree on one thing, that anyone that goes back to Quantico to become a Marine takes a special person! Remember, the fight consumes us. That's what makes us Marines! You are in spirit a Marine! Thanks for your story!
Thanks for your honesty and telling your story! We find military families find it hard to locate resources. It’s about keeping on promoting them so they are aware ! I’m a military kid (and spouse) and we have created children’s books for military children- it’s so important children have access to further supports, especially when a parent is deployed. Thanks for all you are doing your videos are great! ❤️
This is so true! It totally makes my procrastination worse and makes me feel crappier when I’m just at home praying somethings gonna change and I’m just dreading the person I am already.
I have been there!! I so relate. I would tell myself I just need to watch one more video or learn one more thing but I wasn't actually DOING anything! Pick 1 thing to improve on first (something small!) and stick to it. One you have that down, pick the next thing to improve. You'll be leaps ahead where you are now in a few months.
Loved the video! I like how you talk and loved the love journal entry ^^ I disagree with the male friends thing, though . I do think to be very physically close to them is out of the picture, and make obvious limits, other than that closing off to only the partner… we’re not the idea of “animals-men” that some people have where people can’t control themselves. Or at least that’s what I think, as someone who’s had amazing love and beautiful friendships, fortunately (after becoming assertive) ❤
