Think about this for a moment. A unit in US army carries about 2 weeks of supplies. Everything else is provided later. Logistics are to store 2 months for a unit in combat nearby. Army depots store another 2 months of supplies so 4 months of supplies are to be stored and it is expected that they have 4 months to ramp up production to a war footing. If zombies happen, there is no manufacturing to ramp up. The ammo is for a war where combat happens every couple of days, not everyday so ammo might last 30 days instead of 4 months, and thats only if they can get resupply convoys thru.
1 problem i have with military vs zombie is all the full auto and heavy weapon use. During an apocylpse manufacturing is disrupted, where are you getting additional ammo?
