Hi Joe, Thanks very much for your interest. I have been writing about model cars for various car magazines for many years, also a few model magazines such as the one you mentioned. I have been in the specialty model car business full time since 1982. "Diecast" is a word often used generically to describe models, but does not really cover them properly. "Diecast" is only for a specific type of production. My Ferrari Barchetta models were hand built limited edition resin models, with FULL DETAIL and opening panels. Tim Allen (star of "Home Improvement") was a client of mine, and his production company bought that model from me under his direction. It was also featured a little in one of the show's episodes. We produced/built about 75 of the Le Mans winning Barchetta models. The "Bergman" Ferrari you mentioned is actually known as the 375 "Rossellini." Roberto Rossellini was Ingrid Bergnman's husband back then. There was another - different Ferrari 375 which is known as the 375 "Bergman" Ferrari. The "Rossellini" Ferrari model I made was a one-off completely scratch built model. Built for the collector who owned the car at the time I was commissioned to build the model for him. Like you, I also collect assorted scale models... all the scales you mentioned, and an occasional odd other scale. Future CMA limited editions of mine will be available directly from me and a few in progress are shown on my website: www.cmamodels.com

Awesome! Hi Marshall, I remember you from a diecast magazine years ago. I'm glad to see your success. I'm assuming that these Barchettas are diecast although, these days, large scale resin cars seem to be popular. I have some. Nothing opens. Pretty lame. I remember an episode of "Home Improvement" with a #22 Barchetta in the background. Was it one of yours? And these are so detailed, way back in the early '90's. Thanks for your great craftsmanship. I would love to own one of your works of art. I remember too, a Ferrari 375 you did, the Bergman special. I collect most normal scales, 1/18, 1/24, 1/32, 1/43. Where can I buy one or can I? Enzo wouldn't just sell to anyone ;) Thanks again.

When you do a run of 200 models, do you build each model this way? Or does this become a master in some way?

Thanks for your question. When I make any limited edition run of models, whether it is as few as 10 or as many as 150, I make the master mostly this way, but with additional engineering so that most of the parts can be molded and cast, and keyed for easier assembly. I put the same research, and the same physical work into masters for my limited edition runs that I do for a one-off scratch built.
