Z-speed was created to help Nissan 350z /Honda owners repair their own vehicles and save thousands of dollars by doing so. My videos include step-by-step instructions on how to preform common repair and maintenance procedures. Some videos will also focus on product reviews and aftermarket upgrades to the Nissan /Honda platforms. I also love to film tunnel runs, so please feel free to like, comment and subscribe. I am not a mechanic, but I would be happy to answer any questions you might have!
Give yourself at least two days, so you can take your time! Putting everything back together was easier than the disassembly process!! You can do it 💪!
I am about to attempt this repair and have noticed some traces on the pcb between the solder joints are etched away. Is this the continuity gap we are trying to bridge?
Thank you for the excellent video-it’s greatly appreciated. I have a quick question about the Antenna Bypass Harness. Is this attachment necessary for the 2018 SI model's radio to function? I thought it was only required for the Touring model.
Thank you Z speed, I have a 08 Acura TSX (1st gen pretty much same as 03-07 Accords I think those are the Accord years) well its the exact same window switch I know that lol In the 10+ years of owning the TSX i dont think I ever used the lock out button. So was BEYOND DUMBFOUNDED when just overnight all my windows went from working to only my drivers window working. I heard the clicking at all the windows and heard the clicking at the under hood relay so knew those were most likely not the case. Tried a couple Acura forums, pointless. Turned to youtube and found the original video instantly (shout out to the original kid for pinning the video to you). I just finished soldering so fingers crossed, i know i know I didnt try your pin test but im hearing everything click so the relays are getting power, hopefully its this. I wish i could attach a picture but not a big poster on you tube, ig, tic, but it came out beautiful. Putting it back together now and out to the TSX I go. You still have your Z? I had an 03’ chrome silver track model. Had to sell her due to my daughter being born and as you know, Z’s only 2 seater 😢 Ive had Honda/Acura’s and Nissans my whole life. Funny story, so I found a G35 coupe being a 4 seater, black on black 6spd with the brembos and rays wheels (Infinity’s track version like the Z) but the car seat wouldn’t fit backwards cause at the time the car seat had to be facing backwards, it would fit forwards but not chancing it with my daughter so went with the TSX. Not even a week later we were at the point her car seat could go forward, son of b****!!! lmao Oh well, been loving the TSX and playing around with the K24. Had always been a B series guy but damn, the K24 with some bolt ons, clutch cylinder and master cylinder upgrade and the K Tuner, wow. Night and Day. Anyways thank you for this video because even my buddy at his salvage yard has trouble getting these master switches cause they go instantly and even used are expensive, and could have the same problem. So thank you for the video! Cheers!
Welp…i just did a remain the short cut way and was thinking “this CANNOT be the way the engineers wanted me to do it…” lol guess I was right. It went in decent with some patient picking to get the gaskets in there but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it didnt hold. Ill start her up before i put the transmission in first and run her for a while to see if it leaks.
@@Zspeed I changed my mind! I do not want to have to pull it again. I am just redoing it the correct way. Dummy for me pulling that rear main out that wasn’t leaking without reading about how it went back in. It is just such a common practice to replace the rear main on clutch swaps I didn’t think anything of it
This video was a life saver when installing these. The bottom part is thicker than the struts I had on and wouldn't fit the wishbone. Putting it in there by hand first then using a jack to put the wishbone up into the strut worked perfectly. THANK YOU
Would it be beneficial to keep the filter on the driver side valve cover and cap the old connection on the cold air intake tube and than have the oil catch can on the passenger side valve cover with the drilled out pcv valve?
@@Zspeed i have noticed oil with the uv dye on bellhousing near the slave cylinder. But not 100 percent if it is Rear seal. I've done valve covers already though. And also replaced slave cylinder. Which doesn't matter because fluids are separate. UV dye wouldn't show up. But I've cleaned entire engine with degreaser to make sure dye is all I would see. Sorry for lengthy response. Hoping it might help someone else wondering the same thing
Yes, clean the bell housing to engine seal area, drive it for a week. If there is even a small amount of oil that reappears, then your rear main seal is starting to leak! The slower the leak, the more time you have. Most rear main seals leak around 115, 000 miles or so!
@@Zspeed i just bought her. The engine is supposed to have around 56k. But I'm thinking they might have done the cheat method on a rear main seal qhen they replaced the engine. I cleaned engine and found leak right after driving up the street, so its pretty bad. I had oil coated everywhere all the way back to exhaust when I first got car. Oil is on opposing side of oil cooler. So its not the o ring on that. Clean on passenger side near oil filter. I didn't realize there's a bellhousing seal. Where is this located? Or do you just mean the seal created between engine and trans
Having trouble with my unit. Bought a hikity 4gb head unit and an accompanying harness due to my car having the factory JBL amp. But when I hooked it together I got power with no sound
hey i did a manual swap on a g35 2005 did the neutral safety by pass with pin 53 to a 15 amp fuse the car turns on but anytime i press the gas it dies, has this ever happen to anyone? pls help
Run a OBD2 code reader on your ECU, it might give you something to go on, obviously you'll get a u1000 code but ignore that look for something different!
Thanks for the very well made video. Right to the point of what to look out for while doing it. I took the cover off of the fan that connects to the lint trap so the element would pull out straight with nothing in the way. Only 2 screws hold it in place. Thanks for the part # so I could order a new element also. You da man!
You may have an air leak somewhere, double check all of your fittings! The street tuned should run normally without a tune, but the race version will need a tune to run properly!
Never press a ball joint in at home. Purchase a high quality steering knuckle & wheel hub bearing with the ball joint pressed in at the factory. It is too dangerous because if the ball joint comes apart at high speeds, it could kill you!!!!
I found a 2009 Toyota Matrix fascia plate online that fits the HIKITY 9 inch head unit. It really makes the dashboard nice looking without the homemade look. I did buy flush-mount USB cable and cut a square hole for it. Both USB ports are easily accessible. Also, I installed a 3 pole On-Off-On switch, so I can flip on the reverse camera at any time needed.
Great Job great video clear pictures great narration .... however to save $280 at dealer you spent several hours and 50 bucks in fluid and then you need to dispose of used fluid for me the 280 would be money well spent lol..
We just did the swap but the car won’t crank, we confirmed we have power to the switch on the pedal and have spliced into the proper wire along with confirming that the harness was all plugged in, any ideas?
Make sure the by-pass wire is placed in a fuse outlet that gets power while cranking the starter, power is cut to some fuse outlets while the Ignition is being cranked. The same thing happened to me, watch the third video in my transmission swap series!
@@Zspeed Will do when I get home, I am almost certain I placed the fuse tap in the same location as you (to the right of the blue 15 fuse in the bottom left corner) but perhaps I have a different fuse layout or have misplaced it
@@Zspeedalright i have verified that the fuse is in the right spot and have check that it has power to it when turning the key over to start it, anything else you could thing that i might’ve missed? thanks for your time!
Your videos are always so informative! I'm new to this and not mechanically inclined, so forgive the basic question, but if I get the race maf, I'd be getting it installed at a mechanic shop. Can I wait until I get it home to flash the tune? Like will it start and make it home? Or would I need to flash there.
It should start up, but it would probably throw a code after you started driving! The code would cause your dashboard to light up like a Christmas tree. But it should still make it home. The main problem would be that your engine will be running lean, which could damage it over time. If you have a laptop, I would recommend that you tune it at the shop after the intake is installed!🏁👍
I have a joying head unit I just bought and I’m currently having 2 issues, though considering I only just got it I might figure it out, but the blind-spot camera in the side-view mirror doesn’t seem to work, and I cannot change any of the car settings through the unit, any suggestions?
@@Zspeed oh right! It’s a 2018 Honda civic Ex-T with the blind spot camera! Admittedly I literally just installed it today and will most likely need to check for firmware updates as well to see if that resolves any issues, I am overall very happy with it in spite of those issues, and your video helped immensely during install
When setting up your unit, go to Factory, then choose RZC for CAN box type, then choose Honda, car model Civic and CAN box choose 2016-2021 High or Low. High if amplified or low if non-amplified. Then go to vehicle settings and make that the turn right enter camera has a green check mark on it!
