How often does this need to be seasoned? Also, asking for a friend, what if you washed for the first time with washing up liquid before watching videos like yours?!

I use 65 lb cardstock and always have a full sheet of cardstock between the lights and the design, then 4-6 layers in the design. It might be the lights you are using. Some have different brightnesses - here is a link to the style of lights I use.
