I just want to know from some of the comments that I read, why Freddie said that he can't continue touring? His AIDS diagnosed came a few months later in 1987 and at the time he didn't knew he had AIDS so why he decided to quit touring?
He was growing older, according to himself, and the bigger stages used to tire his body more quickly. It was a bigger effort to run around singing and jumping under the hot lights and he needed a pause, the whole band needed a pause after this tour, and then he got ill :(
Apparently it wasn't only because of high stress (John didn't like touring, was extremely tired of it, was drinking a lot and was going through a hard patch in his marriage) but was also having technical difficulties right at that moment. Radio Gaga is a long song and the heat of the lighting rig often made the instruments lose tune, and he snapped because his bass wasn't sounding right anymore as the song went by. He then apologised to his roadie, Ratty, and the bass got repaired. It has nothing to do with Freddie's illness or it being the last tour (also Freddie was tired of touring even before he found out about AIDS), John would've been glad not touring anymore at the time lmao
@@MetalDeathHead hard to say but they didn't know about Freddie's AIDS yet at that time and probably he didn't even had it yet. It wasn't all centered around Freddie's (not really higher) chance of getting ill and John's life didn't gravitate only around Freddie, he had issues on his own.
@@knebworth1986 I'll have to check again because I do remember he did want to retire after Live Aid but then they called him again for the Magic Tour 🤔 EDIT: I remember correctly, Ratty was on tour with them also during the Magic Tour, while not on all the concert he was there for this one.
