Hey Tivia, thanks for getting these interviews with these top-notch players from an array of systems. I'm hankering to go to Armageddon next year. Sadly, life has been getting in the way so this is something I keep telling myself every year...😢
Where was this held? Did they manage to get photon working in an arena? Perhaps the new one in the new Orleans area? I tried to Google it but couldn't find the info
I first went to Photon the day after the original location opened in Dallas. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of friends that I still have today. Those were good days and good times.
I got to get my start in the Houston photon and played in a Texas Tournament in San Antonio and later played in the Tulsa Oklahoma Tourney where we battled not just other Cities but the other 2 Houston Teams. We had a blast and I would do it all over again if i ever had the chance. This game had so fascinated into it that I literally wrote out a DOS program with my C64 that literally played the game with all the players names (By itself) while both sides would flash and get their points while the other side would lose theirs. Just watching my program run and listening to the soundtrack which is still out there on the net. This game truly would have been HUGE if it were just run by the proper PEOPLE! Only thing that was bigger than PHOTON in Houston was the Laser Light show by Jean Michel Jarre...His concert literally STOPPED TRAFFIC on Major freeways for an hour or so!!!! If I only had a time machine to go back and do it all over again!
Have you guys talked about LaserMaxx at all yet? They are one of the largest Laser Tag franchises (Mostly in Europe) and are slowly pushing into the North American market recently. Would love to know your thoughts on it.
I'm very happy to hear that you and I look at laser tag arenas relatively the same way. Early on in my collegiate education in fiction writing, I was taught but if you want to create true art try your best to not pursue "universal appeal". If you come across it unintentionally while riding a specific story, that's okay (in fact, that's the best thing you can do). However, in trying to pursue universal appeal you lose the distinctiveness of what you're pursuing artistically. I think the same exact thing can be applied to laser tag arenas. Being an LQ player primarily, the only mazes I truly remember are the ones where they try something different (for better or worse) - and many of those I found in Canada. Looking forward to more content! I hope you're doing well!
I would have to see this place in Topeka Kansas myself. I will admit it's uniquely designed because it's so...minimalist? Given how much fans love it, I'm guessing that the ergonomics and architectural layout are brilliantly orchestrated to give laser tag fans quite a unique experience.
