I found this interesting as an oat grower from Ontario Canada. We have a lot of buckthorn and crown rust issues. My oats headed out June 23 and as of July 2 I would estimate 50% rust on leaves. I wish universities in eastern Canada were doing this sort of research. I planted AAC Reid this year hoping for resistance and I shudder to think what would be the case if I still grew Rodney oats which for years was the gold standard here. I was waiting for the info on naphta fungicide!! darn.
I don't agree with your suggestion of continuing to ripen tomatoes by putting them in direct sunlight. For years and years, I have brought tomatoes in when they first blush and lay them out in a single layer on a towel covered table, out of direct sunlight. They ripen beautifully in about 3 days.
Thanks for the question! Here is a response from Rhoda Burrows: I would not advise it in-row (or within 1.5-2 ft of the trunk). Landscape fabric or wood chip mulch has been shown to lead to greater tree growth than living mulches (including clovers), especially during those critical first few years. Competition for water is part of the issue, but for nutrients also. The research I could find seems to suggest it would be fine for alleyways in an orchard. When trying to do no till gardening, what does one do with the crop debris from the previous year's plantings? I am just thinking that it would be pretty difficult to plant a full garden with a bunch of debris in it.
Poorly done. The brace rail needs to be longer and placed lower on the end post at about half the height of the top strand of fence wire. This will reduce the chance of the post jacking up out of the ground. Use a concrete paver block under the end of the brace. Use a wire tensioner on two wraps of wire and tighten until the end post starts to move away. SDSU Extension really???
Great! For the "untilled" section, how far did you remove the clover from planting holes? Rip out roots by hand, backfill? I'm intending to transplant brassica, onions in living mulch, desire food production, and cover blend, just uncertain how to weed/scissors the cover moving forward.
Or do the abc agencies just want us to cook the crap out of our food so there are no nutrients left? Why do all European countries of all altitudes only use water bath canning? Same for the Amish and Mennonite communities in the USA. I feel like the abc’s are trying to make us afraid to preserve food.
Al Qaeda was formed by the US governments initially in Afghanistan as a proxy fighting force for damaging the government in Kabul and attacking the USSR. From there, the US has deployed Al Qaeda as a mercenary force repeatedly in Africa and West Asia.
With a geothermal greenhouse, is there any benefit in insulating horizonally above the perferated tubes, especially if you are not growing trees direct into ground. I was considering doing this.
Because am is entomologist and extensionist۔ Realy this has proved very has proved to me and especially grain bins or fumigation management and safety during operational practices۔ This matters to us and our fumigation teams engaged in cereal seeds businesses at Hyderanad Sind، Pakistan۔ very very beneficiaries webinar۔
Something I would argue is that if one bought a block of cheese and grated it this would be cheaper than buying that pre-packaged container. For someone on a budget looking for a healthy meal I think tips like that would be helpful.
