Although world traveled, I am a native Floridian and living on Florida's Treasure Coast has been a life long dream. After living many years in the Tampa Bay area, I finally sold my home in late 2019 and made the move. Seeking to expand on my interests in treasure hunting and fishing, I started this channel to profile and share my new life and adventures.
Good to see you out there hunting buddy, hope you are getting some good finds. Hunted Amber beach after the hurricane, came up blank , still fun hunt. Fireman jim
@@frankhilladventures3620 not a bad idea, I also hunted treasure beach and got nothing, might head to bonsteel in the morning and Ponce Delion beach then spessard holland south, maybe run into Terry Shannon, see how his summer went up north, keep me posted on your hunts buddy, Jim
Thanks for watching. Yes, the storms have really stirred things up, but in the long run that will work to the treasure hunter's advantage. I am getting the same kind of reports from the Vero to Sebastian areas; lots of sand and few finds. The secret here is to not give up and keep swinging that coil.
I lived on the river for 20 years when I first moved in. I built a pier On the bank of the river. When I moved the pier was 1500 feet from the water. 500 years would change the terrain considerably, everything Is not worth it was.
I am on the Treasure Coast of Florida, in the Vero Beach area. The motel rooms and such for more than a hundred miles north or south are sold out, and have been for days. Almost all interstate gas stations are sold out. While some stores in the area are still open, most of everything is closed. I was surprised to even find any gas on the way home. While I had almost a full tank, I stopped and topped off just because it was there. Anyway, and this point, there is nowhere else to go.
Got a question buddy, where there any women and children on the 1715 fleet or just men, tried looking this up but could not find any info if there were women and children on the fleet, thanks buddy
@@frankhilladventures3620 thanks buddy, I found a shoe buckle hunting down by Sebastian, it’s very old crusted real bad, that’s why I was asking about children on the fleet ships
@@frankhilladventures3620 Frank, you still hunting a lot buddy, I am still hunting daily here on the space coast and treasure coast, finding a few rings and tons of fake jewelry, I did find a very old coin , it has a makers mark on the of a human head with a royal crown on top of the persons head, been cleaning it trying to get a date on it, it’s also paper thin, hope your hunts are going well , Fireman Jim
@@frankhilladventures3620 thanks, I’m a retired firefighter from Indianapolis, Indiana and I enjoy all aspects of treasure hunting. I am planning on making it happen. Do you have any suggestions on where to stay ?
I like your videos and dedication, I am in my 60's and really set in my ways as well... I keep seeing the comments on your aged metal detector and I can understand your love of it and unwillingness to try any new tech.... Having said that... I finally traded up two years ago with a minelab vanquish 540 pack and then wife surprised me fantastically this year early on with a manticore. Before that Garret was my thing and to hell with anyone telling me multi frequency would stomp me... But then I finally listened when my last coil self destructed lol... My friend, this beach was a goldmine and you were there at the most opportune time. I would simply suggest that stubbornness might keep you from finding deep things your garret is missing. .. you can keep on with it, I woill sooner or later run into you on the beach with my manticore and wife with the vanquish and talk more about it. BUt life is short friend. IF you are going for it, go with the best tools one can afford. Wouldn't you hate it if someone went behind you and found a great stash from one of the sailors from then.? And in a spot you just went over? I ask because this has happened to me a few years ago and I lost out on a stack of 23 gold and just over a hundred silver pieces..... That too made me give up on old tech.....(mumbling under my breath the entire time about how lucky they were and if I had just gone over it one more time....) lol Since the new machines I have not gotten to go out much, health reasons but I did find 3 silver pieces of eight and they were 26 inches down at a beach near there that was eroded by storm.... My Old garret never found it.. Manticore did....
I hear you. The rule of thumb has always been to buy the best metal detector that you can afford. I have done that, several times. And yes, I'm an old Garrett fan. They are good machines and their customer service has always been top notch. I have the AT Pro (it was expensive at the time), a Sea Hunter Mark II (the big coil works really good, but it is cumbersome and unsuitable for use underwater), a 250 that I have had for years, and I still have my first metal detector, a Garrett Freedom One that I bought back in 1990. It too was expensive at the time. After all these years it still works great. I think I just may do a video about it some time. I also have a Nokta Simplex and a couple of others. I like my AT because it is tough and can take the environments. It has always served me well. At this point, if I am not going to find it with what I already have I will just have to keep looking and swinging. Anyway, I appreciate your support and input. You take care and have some good luck out there.
@@frankhilladventures3620 i would love to see a video of you running your first detector on the Treasure Coast. With everyone always saying the new machines this and that and there is always a "new and improved" it would be awesome to see an older classic detector out there pulling up treasure!
Frank, how has your hunting been, I have been hunting daily here in the Melbourne beach and satellite beach area, finding lots of junk jewelry and coin spills, filling my five gallon bucket up with fishing weights, lol, like you say, If you ain’t swinging , you ain’t finding, your videos have been a great help, thanks buddy, Fireman Jim
Yes, saw it, we were there just the end of this last July. I was stunned by the sand going so far out along the pier. It's so sad. Just six, even five years ago, that was a really great beach.
That’s about like my hunt at Edisto beach SC. Did about 9 hours there over several days and found several tent stakes, some lead and a little over a dollar in change. It’s not a beach loaded with tourists. Thanks for the video!👍😎👍. Subbed!!
I’m a fan of the McLarty! And, of course, I have spent a lot of time on the beaches. One rule about metal detectors - they’re not allowed on the beach behind the Museum. Thank you for showing the exhibits - even though you couldn’t spend much time with each one, we can always hit Pause and see everything in each case for as long as we want.
@@frankhilladventures3620 it has been a hot summer hunting, got a new detector, got the x terra pro elite machine, great detector, went this morning, found a small coin spill, tent spike and melted aluminum. Going back again the morning, Fireman Jim
Thank you for taking the time to record and post the beach hunting and museum. My goal is to make it down one winter and try my hand detecting the beach there. Happy hunting Frank!
Frank, how have your hunting been, still hitting Melbourne beach and treasure coast daily, getting some nice rings and pounds of fishing weights, it sure has been hot, happy hunting my friend, Jim
Thanks for staying in touch. Yes, I have been getting out, but not near as much as I would like. Yes, its been hot, but cooling a little now, and time to hit the beaches heavy.
@@frankhilladventures3620 been finding a few rings in south Melbourne beach, been running the towel lines mostly, need a good storm to clean out all these sanded beaches, happy hunting my friend, Fireman Jim
How have you been buddy, how is your hunting going, I have been lucky lately hunting here on the space and treasure coast, it sure has been hot, Fireman Jim
@@frankhilladventures3620 had a great find at bonsteel beach access in Melbourne beach, found a old gold ring in about 8 inches of wet sand, exciting find,
You still hunting daily, was down today at Bonsteel beach this morning, found a good size congronmit, got it soaking in olive oil, hope to see you out hunting buddy,
I paid like 8$ for 10 eggs the other day. And canned tuna used to be 1$ before lockdown, now it's double that. We don't have most of the items you got tho. I'm in Copenhagen.
I find my AT-Pro terrible in the wet sand. Very unstable and unreliable. Too many of those 'Ghost Targets' you refer to. I use my Equinox 600 on the beach and the Pro for woods and parks.
Went hunting today at bonsteel beach in Melbourne beach, got a strong target about 12 deep in the wet sand, dug it out, it was a carpenter square, crazy find, thought you might get a laugh out of that.
