Looks like my headliner is glued to the roof. anyone have that problem. getting it separated from the glue seems to be a challenge without tearing the cardboard.
So the Buick should have a fiber glass interior roof insert that the foam and new fabric are glued too. Are you sure yours is glued directly to the roof metal?
@@HOWTOFIXIT2000 It turns out there was cardboard glued to the root. the liner was glued to the cardboard on 4 corners but I could separate the corners successfully.
You’re very welcome. Just keep at it a little at a time and eventually it will be done. I’m 2 years in so far and am tracking for 3.5 to 4 years completion.
Just my 2 cents worth - my experience with the original 6 and 12 volt distributors were pretty sensitive to water. That is the reason I am still running 24 volt. Your news that there is a 12 volt coil to go in the military distributor might have changed my mind. I did install the Pertronix unit to do away with the points. Happy so far! Kept up the good work!
Yeah I was shocked as well that the 12V military coil was available. Reach out to Peter Debella Jeep parts and they can def get you one. Fits in the 24V military distributor like a glove.
I ordered a 12V military style coil. Look up Peter Debella Jeep parts online. You have to call them to order it they don’t have it listed on the website, however they are available.
I have a Hondaxr100r 1987 motor runs so good it’s crazy how good it runs for the age I’m questioning if it’s been rebuilt recently or if it just haven’t been ridden much what yoy think is more likely? It’s just crazy how smooth it sounds
Good work, what's the date of delivery on data plate? Interesting to know since your hood number starts with 2094. I would guess between march and june 1952
Just want to say thanks for being so thorough with this video, im 15 and just bought a project xr80, and this video REALLY helped me out for my first engine rebuild. Thanks man!
@Everatti so In the video there is no arrow on the piston. There is an “N” stamped into the top of the piston to indicate that is the intake side of the piston.
@@HOWTOFIXIT2000 Okay my mistake. Going to see if I can check through the spark plug hole so I don’t have to pull the whole thing apart again today haha. Thanks for the quick reply, video was super helpful
Amazing how small and compact and simple those jeeps are. I could restore that entire thing in a month. I did my truck in less than a year bumper to bumper and was vastly more complicated.
@johnmartin2079 it wasn't. I got nothing better to do. So I had nothing but time and took my time. Besides I only have 20 years of usable life left so I need to get things done.
Usually when doing them by hand I don't use soap because then I have to fight the slipperiness of the tire and trapped moisture can cause more rust. Also you should have removed the weight as it was there for the previous tire and will be wrong for this one. Likely you won't need to balance them anyway. You always start mounting from the side closest to the drop centre. Most new wheels that's the outside. Yours look even so it doesn't matter. My neighbour was an old time mechanic and used a hammer to install the first side. If your'e good you won't hit the rim and it's easier than with the bars.
Yeah I agree, def should have been removed. Soon as it’s on the road I’ll prob have the wheels balanced, but these wheels are over 70 years old so if they are still straight I’ll be surprised. Hammer is def a good tool to help with mounting tires for sure.
I used an air compressor with a fine tip Blower and it took glue and everything off in about 15 minutes. Leaving it super clean. I found the scraper to be tedious and not do as good a job. Getting rid of the car soon so I'm just painting mine but yours came out great! Thanks for the info,I needed it to get started.
Things are coming along on it. I had to take a break from making videos on the project for personal reasons, however I am getting back into it. Just uploaded a video of the engine running today!
I’m in South Carolina too! But i just bought this and am going to redo my boat seats! Super excited to try it! The miracle mist is great, but still mine are not super white, hope this holds up!
I wonder, on that uneven surface area towards the end, can you sand this stuff down a little bit to make it more even, then spray a finishing coat on it?
Do you have a way that I can message you privately? I am working on an M 38 as well. I have a feeling mine might have been at Fort Jackson, but I can’t figure out how to trace it.
Hi, feel free to send me a message. However there is really no way to track these due to the army disposing of all of the docs when they were surplussed out. I only know of the history on mine as it was purchased by my late grandfather back in 1973 from surplus action.
NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! Arrow faces toward the exhaust!!!! Your piston is 180 degrees backwards! Another indication will be the intake indentation on the piston will be larger than the exhaust indentation. (Intake valve bigger) Everyone freaks out about the chain dropping down. Just use a telescopic magnet to fish it up instead of trying to hold it up and getting in the way. Just did rebuild and learned this so passing it on. Especially if you are removing the cylinder, as you can almost just reach it with your fingers.
