Making my younger self proud by turning my teenage dream car (Civic Coupe) into a Need For Speed Underground Ricer
I currently own 3 Honda Civics! 1 Civic coupe The honda civic budget build, VTi / Si to you guys in the states. Chassis Code EM1 but more popularly known as a EK Coupe! You know the one with the B16 engine. Two Civic EG Hatchbacks, One from Japan that's currently a shell and a Red UK engine swapped EG6 with a H22A from the JDM Prelude VTEC. Obviously they are all right hand drive and being modified as the channel grows! The plan is that the White EG Hatch will become the ultimate daily track car with the Red cars H22 Swap and all its parts. The silver one will be a complete budget build and perhaps if funds allow a full body kit, turbo, need for speed, fast and furious looking Project car!
But ultimately, I'm just a UK car guy that prefers tuner cars to super cars.
Works okay but, you might have to apply it multiple times and it might looks a little blurry when you first get in on a cold morning (try not to wipe it as that's the product working and it will clear quickly if you leave it)
@@arielatomhc pops and bangs are a result of over fueling or adding fuel on overrun. It's something cars less focused on mpg and economy do more often when you only swap the exhaust. Where as the Swift hitting 45+ mpg won't be as "fuelful" but a remap could definitely change that
@@johneppenauer6772 nothing a £10 part worn can't resolve on this shed 🤣 in all seriousness, the change would be minimal as the track rod end is the only area of adjustment on this suspension type. Everything else is fixed
Hello first of all love the content! But I have a quick question, does your DC2 wing give you a hard time installing? Like the fitment etc because I own a 98 Civic sedan and I'm trying to install one but people saying the dc2 wing is too big for my trunk. I hope You noticed my comment
@@jakeguitarbass7209 I believe they're Yellowstuff Rear Brake Pads - DP42120R Yellowstuff Front Brake Pads - DP42003R From my email with Josh at EBC 🤙🏼
@@Dan_AYP Much Appreciated Dan. I currently still have the factory brakes that are on 30,000km. Ever so often the front pads rattle when going over the occasional pot hole. Usually signs of worn pads and fittings.
Im working on my 15 silverado right now, front caliper wont come off, removed both 19 mm bolts, wiggles a bit but its stuck, any advice, im stuck on treasure island
If the manual says replace, then always replace. 👍🏻 New bolts certainly wouldn't hurt, replace and renew the bolts could mean 2 different things though
@@Dan_AYP i went to the dealership with intent to get new bolts, and they talked me out of it. idk if they saved be a buck or want me dead, heh. i guess im reusing 10yo bolts
I prefer the exterior styling of the previous model (1.6 Sport) and wish the 2017 model had a better choice of wheels. Can't argue with the lighter weight and faster acceleration but there are so many reports of them being nowhere near as much fun to drive as the revy 1.6 Sport - a case of all torque and no pizazz?
Have owned both and they're both a lot of fun. The 1.4t is much easier to drive in everyday situations and the extra pull from the increased torque won't suck you back into your seat but does feel good from any engine speed when you're on the throttle. The 1.6 has no pull to speak of and you have to rev the nuts off to make progress. Yes it's fun but can also be tiresome sometimes too, especially in traffic.
No good sounding exhaust at all...i hear a FIAT 500 Abarth and think: wow...what a fantastic sound for such a small engine. Ich hear the SSS and think: Sound?
As a quick tip- If you're unsure if your shock absorbers failed, the car may feel unstable and might rattle or clatter over small bumps in the road when going over them with that wheel/corner. That's when you can get underneath and check them for leaks or, try a bump test where you're checking the car settles before 3 bounces when pressing on the car to compress the suspension 👍🏻
A few additions First number is Tread width (tyre width) Then its Aspect ratio = side wall height as a percentage of the tyre width 17 or the following 2 digit number is the wheel diameter 👍🏻
Good stuff, looking forward to more tips like this in future videos! You earned a sub, definitely deserve it. Though you could be a bit more structured, but it's not terrible the way it is.
Yes mate very much so but, if you don't need the 4 doors and rear seats like my Mrs does, (we have 2 kids) I'd recommend the 86 over the SSS. It's faster, more of a drivers car. The SSS is the hatch I'd buy over all the other mini hatches though 👍🏻 including the fiesta, abarth etc
Dude I have no idea why you turned the piston. Just turning it, and then turning it back to how it was, can cause it to move better afterwards?... What ? The dude in the other video popped the thing out and sanded the sides until it was shiny.
Sometimes a full caliper refresh isn't needed and the pistons on the rear wind back as they have a ratchet mechanism internally for the handbrake. With this in mind, simply moving the piston can "free it off" enough to not need a full caliper refurb. To add, dismantling the caliper can result in seals getting damaged and/or split. This is fine if you have a full set of rubbers to replace them with but if not, you end up with a bricked car until you buy them. Most replacement calipers are also very close to a refurb kit in cost but, you save a lot of time by just buying a replacement caliper. If you want another video showing the caliper teardown and rebuild I believe theres one on a civic ev1 on my channel 👍🏻
Hi Dan, great job by your Dad. Can I ask, why he didn't feel the need to tape off the surrounding area and also would he advise an Orbital Polisher or would a Cordless drill do just as well ? Thanks
Paints gone on the car mate haha and orbital was all he had to hand at the time. That's the only reason mate 👍🏻 a cordless drill does work and I've done that myself on another headlight resto on the EM1 build. It's on the channel somewhere 😁
Thanks mate, I can't recall the torque settings (check online/auto data) but you can find the rears done over on silverline tools channel where I did them as a how to for them 👍🏻
Hi Dan great video, my swift brake pedal makes a high pitched sound when the pedal is going back up and i also noticed that it takes a little longer to brake then normal. Do you know what that may be, I have heard the master cylinder tends to fail and if replacing the abs pump do they need re programmed. Thanks
