I was racing there that weekend in both the Yamaha and B-limited enduro races. It was a sad weekend as a young lady 16 was killed in one of the Yamaha sit up races.
Man that was possibly the most fun in the T.A.G. class in like 2005 started 74th out of 76 finished 11th, some of the best driving I've ever done and with the worst kart in the field...
Is there still a full field of B stocks at the national level? How many guys are running B stock at a national? Do you still run Road America, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen? I raced back in the mid/late 1980s and it was fantastic but it seems to have fallen off, no?
I had a sprint Hornet sidewinder (prototype) and a Hornet Enduro Allegro (Prototype also) longer wheelbase with no bodies on either Kart. My enduro kart had polished aluminum saddle tanks for Fuel
not sure... we barely even have more than 5 yamaha guys with me up in the north east. and we just sprint race. Id say it seems to have died gradually since 2007. thats when all my friends used to road race up at New Hampshire International. Lol I was too young to race back then
Thanks for the reply! In the 80's there were near 80 carts entered in 100cc controlled heavy. It's sad what's happened to road racing. People now want it easy and run TAG carts. Enduros require knowledge and time to get set up to run up front. Thanks again.
oh i misread your comment john, B stock is still alive as far as im aware, id say atleast 10 guys still do it. yea its a bummer, it seems to be getting replaced by Formula 80 and formula 125 laydowns. I guess thats just the evolution
WOW, those Enduro's (correct me if i'm wrong) cook! I had no idea they were that quick. Do you know of any kart club this is still hosting an event there? I missed the event in 2008 and haven't seen anything since.
Thanks for posting this. Ronnie was my dad. Even a small glimpse of him (or in the case the back of his kart), is good to see. Brings back memories of traveling to races with him. If you have any more to share I would love to see!
Ashlie, sorry I never check my account. But this is the only one I had with him. He was one of the best drivers I've ever known and a great friend. I'm glad you saw this vid at least though. We miss him every day.
we pretty much gear for a max of 15,000, but road racing, guys usually shoot for 14,000 because you dont want to be maxed out at 15k for too long or you'll pretty much melt your piston lol
twin engine karts use two separate oil bath clutches singles use one, no speeds, that is determined by an axel gear or gears for the twin engine set up and an engine driver gear,or gears the clutch is for stall speeds and set up changes depending on the track and conditions like pipe choices.. the twins can hit speeds over 130 mph..
