The world is a beautiful and amazing place with endless opportunity to explore more! Come along with us on our journey as we travel and also share some of our life at home with you.
Hi, thanks for watching our video 👋 I'm glad you found it helpful 😊 I'm sure you will have a great time being right beside the beach ⛱️ enjoy & safe travels ✈️
Hi, from my memory you can go online and pick where you want to reserve a lounger all along the main beach in Alcudia but I think you can only reserve loungers if you are booking for 3 days or more. Otherwise you just have to turn up on the day and pay at the beach. We went to the beach early around 9am and never really had an issue finding free loungers in August. Hope this helps 👋
For grocery shopping,if you visit again, there is a supermarket called Cherish which is on Swan Street in Bridgetown.their prices is pretty reasonable when it comes to a lot of other supermarkets here..glad you had an enjoyable time while here.
Hi 😊 thank you for the tip and for taking the time to watch our video! We will certainly check it out if we manage to make it back to Barbados 🇧🇧 who knows maybe for our 5th anniversary we will make a return to Dover Beach 😀✈️
@jrexploremore1234 No problem.i like to let person's know where they can get their groceries a little bit more reasonable than some of the more expensive supermarkets and I do hope you make it back for your 5th anniversary.i am glad when person's enjoy their visit to my island.
Hello, 🐦🐦🐦May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?
Great video, well documented. We are travelling back through Germany on a road trip next year and could go via Nuremberg, it looks worth doing after watching this 💯❤️👌🏼
It's definitely worth visiting ☺️ it's such a lovely little city with so many picturesque bridges and buildings! Glad you enjoyed our video 😊 thanks for your kind comment. Safe travels ✈️
We send a barrel over before we go of all the goods that are hard to get there. Works out good value. Does take a while at the depot to collect, and only any good if you are there for some time. We are back there in November for 3 months, so should be fun! ❤️💯
Wow 3 months there would be amazing 👏 definitely a good idea if you're heading for a long stay. hope you guys enjoy it and thanks for your kind comment 😊
Listen Barbados is not for the cheap tourist or the tourist trying to save money. It's expensive. It always makes me laugh when tourists look for ways to save money while in Bim....... good luck even Bajans find it difficult to live in Bim.
Yeah we spoke to a local lady when we visited and she was telling us how it's become very difficult for locals to get by. So it's not just tourist that find the island expensive. It will never be "cheap" to visit Barbados but you definitely can make it less expensive for yourself if you just shop around a bit in my opinion. I hope the situation improves there for the locals as its their country and they deserve to have a good standard of living with fair prices. Thanks for your comment 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! My family has a few properties on/near Dover beach you can see one of them in your video, we just returned from a visit there. We love Barbados. My goal is to visit a few times a year!
Yes that's correct 👍 we stayed there in a junior suite room which was quite small for a "suite" but still was more than enough to be comfortable. Hope you enjoyed the video 😊 thanks for your comment.
It's certainly a stunning Beach in an affordable location 👌😍 definitely among the best white sand in Europe. Like a little piece of the Caribbean in Europe 😃. Thanks for watching 🖐
@@jrexploremore1234 With the coming spiritual awakening you will find out what Mallorca really is soon =).Having an open mind is vital and a blessing. We win out.
Nice video and I’m glad you enjoyed my island. I was born in London but my parents were from Barbados and I lived out there for 5 years before returning to London. The best 5 yrs of my life and it where I call ‘home’.
Been many times and back in March I’ve rented Villas and Apartments My preferred location is around or close to Oistins, I love the fresh grilled fish and so does my wallet, my wife loves the top Restaurants so it’s a nice balance. I’m not a Hotel Lover but highly recommended the Butterfly Beach Hotel for accommodation, and it’s midway between St. Lawrence Gap and Oistins. I’ve been to mimosas several times but also recommend Harlequins and also Champagnes, but for me my favourite is still the Fish Fry at Oistins as I get a bit tired of rich food. And anyone visiting must venture to the other side of the Island as it’s an Island of two halves. I always get drawn to Bashiba, and a stroll round the Botanical Gardens is also recommended to chill out.
Hi, Thanks for your comment 😊 Oistins is a nice area with alot to offer we weren't too far from there. The island safari is a great way to check out most of the island with all the facts and information from your tour guide. Hope you enjoyed the video and safe travels ✈️
I visited in Dec 2022. Flew with TUI. My accommodation very clean, felt safe. Studio. My work colleague emailed me info on Barbados. I was caught out by the extra cost to cover breakage. Luckily no damage. Hoping to visit again in Oct. I am hoping to go to Bridgetown. Went for Fish dinner on Fri. Was 5 mins walk from beach. Found a beach cafe brilliant food. Grocery food was expensive. Fruits and bottled water!
We were married in Barbados as well. It will now always be a treasure to us. We found literally everyone to be friendly and willing to talk to us. We can’t wait to go back. It is a wonderful island.
Interesting factoid: rum is cheaper than fresh milk per volume. For those on a limited budget, I would therefore advise putting rum on your morning cornflakes instead of milk.
Thanks for a very informative and accurate review of my lovely country (well my parent's, I am a born and bred Londoner...LOL). However, I lived in Barbados for 5 years in the 80s/90s and have visited the beautiful island countless times since. I'm glad you enjoyed it and had a lovely honeymoon.
Hi Richard, thanks for your kind comment. We loved the place and it was so refreshing to go there in December and escape the "lovely" Northern Irish weather 😃 wow 5 years there would be amazing. Safe travels wherever the road takes you next ✈️
I have been there a few times and loved it . We always rented a villa thru VRBO and got a car at the airport . If you do some research you can find some very reasonable deals .Do your homework . Worth every dime .
If you want people to watch your videos, make an effort to speak in a more enticing manner. Your monotone speech doesn’t encourage a listener to keep listening to your videos. Two minutes in, I had enough.
Barbados is pretty expensive but you get what you pay for! Its an amazing Island! And yes the ZRs (the large vans that pick ppls up constantly along the main roads) are supposed to be 3.50 bajan (1.75 US) per ride...
All busses in Barbados have one fare. Mini bus, ZR van or the big public busses are all $3. 50 Barbados dollars standard price person. I have never heard anyone charged double on a bus unless you were charged $7.00 bajan dollars for two passengers.
Yes we are aware now that the price is supposed to be 3.50 bajan 😊 however when in the mini bus we were lead to believe it was 7 dollars US. I even asked was it 7 US or Bajan and was told US on the bus. The money isn't the issue it was more just dishonesty really annoys me personally. Maybe it was a miscommunication however unfortunately it did happen. Overall we loved our time there and it didn't tarnish our view of the people there as me met many lovely locals 🇧🇧
@J&R explore more! you really do. I was not looking at the TV when the video began and I thought it was a bajan person speaking. The Irish connection in Barbados is long and strong. Look up the Ecky Becky's of Red Legs of Barbados .
Yeah we learned about the irish connection when we spoke to some locals near St.Lawrence Gap 😊 we hadn't been aware of the Irish influence before our trip. Definitely interesting to note. Sure, I will check it out. Thanks 👍
Yes we filled it out online before leaving it just makes your time going through arrivals much faster 😊 No they aren't checking for covid certificates or PCR tests etc anymore as there are no restrictions but best to double check the travel advice for Barbados on your own government's website just to be sure. Have a great trip😊✈️
Hi, have you taken a taxi from the airport? I mean are there taxis at the airport so you can take a taxi from there? is it safe to take a taxi? Can I pay by card?
Hi 😊 yes we took a taxi from the airport. When you come out of the arrivals building you will see a few people dressed in uniform with note pads and pens these are the official airport taxi vendors. You tell them where you want to go and then they will go and speak to the taxi drivers and come back to you when they have found someone to take you. Its safe to take a taxi however they all do drive very fast so be prepared for that 😀 no you can only pay in US or Barbados Dollars in our experience. Hope this helps.
I'm actually not sure 🤔 as we just took some US Dollars in cash with us before we left Ireland. I would advise you to do the same if you can to save any stress when you get there 😊
🇹🇹 Great review 👏 I've visited beautiful Barbados 🇧🇧 from 2006 to 2020 due to my profession & the ONLY reason why i haven't revisited it was because of COVID-19 & up to that time it was my 19 visit YES 19 ! It's now 2k23 So I'm getting myself ready to return asap God's will ✈
Hi, Thank you for your kind comment 😊 wow you're definitely blessed to be able to visit such a beautiful place so many times 😲 hope you enjoy your next trip back ✈️
The prices for taxi rides are posted at the airport and the bus fares are standard all over the Island. Next time ask the driver the fares before paying on the bus so that the locals can hear your questions they would not allow the bus driver overcharge you.
Hi 😊 thank you for your comment. Yes we used the official taxi from the airport which was priced quite fairly however its the price of other local taxis we found to be alot more expensive. We have learned alot from our first visit and will be better prepared for next time ✈️ we still had a great honeymoon and that's the main thing 😀
Hi! How are? I have a question, im going to travel to barbados in 5 days, im not sure if is safety take a taxi from the airport? Do you know if I can pay by card? Or just only cash?
Hi, we had looked at car rental but because I am under 30 years old the prices were very high due to their insurance policy 👎☹️ but yes we'd have loved to have had a car and seen more of the island.
Glad to hear you liked Sapphire Beach Resort. We’ve been to Barbados over 65 times and have stayed there five or six times. We normally stay on Dover at Southern Palms Beach Resort. Did you get to eat from any of the street vendors like Daddy’s; great value and great people. We’ve met people from all over the world at Daddy’s. We’re actually headed back end of February from Ontario, Canada for three weeks. Cheers.
Hi 😊 thank you for your comment. Wow 65 times 😲 you're definitely the person to come to for tips then 😃 no we hadn't heard of Daddy's we just went around all the small restaurants/dinners near us in St.Lawrence if we make it back again from Ireland we'll be sure to give it a try. Have a great trip ✈️ and enjoy the Caribbean sun.
@@jrexploremore1234 Too bad you missed Daddy’s. When you came out of the gates at Sapphire Beach and turned left there is a few street food stands and he is the first one. Very inexpensive and great food.
@@jrexploremore1234 65 times...wow! You could have invested in a small property on the island. You are definitely an adopted Bajan. Thank you for your patronage.over the years. That's truly amazing.
I have enjoyed your blog and happy to hear you enjoyed your overall visit to Barbados 💙💛💙 £ on the buses and shops etc.. the £ so converting to US or BDS is recommended. Sorry to hear you were overcharged on the buses this shouldn't have happened as on all buses the fare is BDS$3.50 for one trip one person. I have heard this happen many times if you give them US$ very rare they give change unless you are aware and ask for as close as possible to the equivalent in change. I try to to eat too much of what I would back in the UK as yes it is very expensive in Barbados even meat which is produced on the island so that's a strange.. chicken lamb very expensive why I can't fathom! Of course as very little is manufactured on the island they import a huge amount of goods so taxes etc will be applied and then passed onto the consumer. Taxis are expensive also and the Government has just approved an increase as they've not had one for years.🤷🏽♀there is a price list for the cost when you arrive in the arrivals lounge also they might charge you for any extra luggage. A few people we know use the local buses which are situated outside the airport to their destination plus they have told me see more as the taxis speed as anxious to return back to the airport for more fares! I agree whilst we understand that the Bajans are not paid like us in Europe but it's not our fault and we do work hard in the UK no hour lunch break etc.. Plus of course the fare to our holiday destination. The beaches on the South Coast are lovely as well from Miami Beach to Brownes beach is beautiful for swimming in and safe. It is a lovely island and even small has so many places to see. Always best to get around in the day so you can see. St Lucy is beautiful in the North of the island to the South.. Dover beach is on the South coast.
Hi, Thank you for your kind comment 😊 we're glad you enjoyed our quick video. Yeah we definitely felt like we were in a race car with the taxis a few times but it kept us awake that's for sure 😃 we made it back in one piece thats the main thing. Having been there and experienced Barbados we will definitely be prepared for our next visit and more aware of the cost effective ways to eat and travel there. Thanks for the tip about the southern beaches 👍 unfortunately we never made it down that area during our stay but I'm sure it's stunning also.
My friend is from Barbados and when I visited I saved a lot because he has a home there. The Groceries are very expensive that's for sure. Next trip back will be in May. I will bring some groceries with me. I have had the pleasure of making new friends. Just a note. If you become friends and keep in touch they will look out for you much better. They taken good care of me always.
Hi, Thank you for your comment 😊 that's great that you have that opportunity to vist friends there. I'm sure it's a great help with the cost etc. Enjoy your trip back in May I'm sure you will have a blast 🇧🇧😊
I love to hear Bajans speak. Their accent is unique. l always said Bajans sounded very different to other Caribbean people. On our visit to Barbados most beach vendors were st Lucian, guyanese, and surprisingly a few jamaicans. I was very surprised so many other caricom people were there. Barbados really has a real Caribbean feel to it .It smells clean fresh, man and how i love the fish bajans eat.OMG.🍸 That said Irish accent sounds more Bajan than any I've heard😅.
Hi, Thank you for your comment! 😊 yes it's great to speak to the locals and get to know the real people of Barbados. We spent quite a bit of time talking to locals and noticed some similarities for sure😊 my accent is Northen Irish so it's a little different to that of many of the southern counties of Ireland but nonetheless definitely similar in ways to that of Barbados 🇧🇧
