DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN, why hadn't I discovered this guy and channel earlier. I grew up on classical piano, got into synths when the DX-7 came out, took a music theory course at UNC-Asheville during undergrad that completely BLEW MY MIND. (Bob Moog was a music professor there!) Anyway, awesome stuff: you really know how to put it all together!!!
Update: My Theremin arrived a few days ago, and tended to cut out when connected to my laptop. I measured the current consumption at 700mA, which is more than a USB 2.0 port can handle. Power from USB 3.0 should be OK; I am using a massive USB battery at the moment.
Could be better, there's an option to show notes on the screen in letter form which is handy but generally I'd say this is more of an experimental oddity than a dedicated replacement for a pro Theremin.
Great video. I checked this out a while back after the GAS fired up when Stylophone showed their Theremin at NAMM. I figure this is a better investment considering the price vs how much I'd probably use it
Thanks so much, that's exactly what lead to me discovering it too! So glad you got something out of the video, it's the first time I've made content like this. I'm still going to get the Stylophone T but this has definitely filled the gap for the time being 😁
Thanks for this video. I've ordered one, for less than £30! As for MIDI, I expect that if a simple audio wave output from the theremin is fed into a pitch-to-MIDI converter, that might work. I built a theremin years ago but it was so unstable it was practically unusable.
Wow, that looks great. Do some of the settings fix pitch to a chromatic scale? (otherwise it would be interesting to pass it through a pitch-correcter) Does the USB do anything besides supply power? BTW the audio level on your video is very low.
Thanks, I've tried to boost the volume in another upload of this video, I'm still getting used to new software after updating everything. The USB only supplies power I'm afraid, would be great to have some sort of midi going in or out. As for chromatic scale the closed option is to have each note typed just above the screen in bold before releasing your hand over the left antenna. I was playing around last night and with that option on and the right timing I dare say I was getting more musical results. Thanks for watching.
Haha, nice one, yeah, I'm generally a nerd for that too but I always tend to mess with my Clownfest vids. Currently preparing for a gig next Saturday and I'm already looking forward to how I can work with the LoFi and B&B once I'm finished with that. I find it incredibly difficult to settle even when everything is sounding great. Cheers for your support Chris, much appreciated 👊💜👌
