I LOVE THIS VERSION OF "A SPACEMAN CAME TRAVELING ". I HAVE BEEN PLAYING AND LISTENING TO IT ALL DAY!! I ALSO LIKE CHRIS DE BURGH 'S VERSION. I FIRST HEARD THIS SONG N THE RADIO YEARS AGO AND I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!
When this came out 48 years ago nobody had heard of Chris De Burgh. Not many more know about this track either, they think of Lady in Red which to me was his worst ever effort and killed his following. This was so different to what was around at the time and the mainstream basically ignored it for Slade or Wizzard. Both great records at the time but in original form has stood the test of time.
This upload of the song is broken. Those "ticks" in the chorus ruin it. Here is a better version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Mov2cQlcus.html
What a delight to discover this wonderful performance of the Irish Christmas song by Chris de Burgh - and with the beautiful Irish mezzo Patricia Bardon. Great to see and hear her in good voice; brings back memories of a wonderful Messiah in Cork some decades ago.
This is by far the worst rendition of this ageless classic song I've ever heard. The only one out of the 3 that doesn't murder her part is the second female singer (the one on the left), her vocal is the only part that tries to salvage as best she can to save this version from being a total disaster, well her and the kids choir.
A spaceman streets of London... No food and no drink... Streets of 宇宙... Back to the Space... Or live in earth... 拯救末日的飛船 沒家的地球 沒吃喝的母親 Spaceman Where is my home...
I like this arrangement by Karl O Olgeirsson but listen to this one as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qX4pp8ifXjU.html by Páll Óskar (Paul Oscar)
A spaceman came travelling on his ship from afar, 'Twas light years of time since his mission did start, And over a village he halted his craft, And it hung in the sky like a star, just like a star He followed a light and came down to a shed, Where a mother and child were lying there on a bed, A bright light of silver shone round his head, And he had the face of an angel, and they were afraid Then the stranger spoke, he said "Do not fear, I come from a planet a long way from here, And I bring a message for mankind to hear," And suddenly the sweetest music filled the air And it went La La... Peace and goodwill to all men, and love for the child This lovely music went trembling through the ground, And many were wakened by hearing that sound, And travellers on the road, the village they found, By the light of that ship in the sky, which shone all round And just before the dawn at the paling of the sky, The stranger returned and said "Now I must fly, When two thousand years of your time has gone by, This song will begin once again, to a baby's cry"
