There are many ways to do it. Personally, I always cut from the underside and diagonally upwards when I have what we call a lean-to, in that way I avoid pinching the blade of the saw when I get through the trunk. You just have to be careful not to get the upper part of the trunk in your head, but you show that yourself.

You are so far from the camera that it is hard to see what you are doing.

Thanks for the input I will try to do a up close as a follow up. Key points are that I am making a cut on 2 sides of the tree with the saw vertical. The 2 cuts meet or pass by each other in the middle to sever the wood and allow the upper portion to be separated from the lower without a hinge directing its travel.

Bro that rope wrench was giving you hell. So much so that you called it a Porta wrap when you got it off the line. Slow down and focus. *Edit* Holy hell! You have no business with any of this equipment. Learn how to make a face cut like seriously have someone teach you because whatever you've been watching ain't doing it. That was horrifying like I'm legitimately concerned for your health

Too low of a back cut. You better stop trying to cut trees before you get hurt or killed.

@@user-CF.Tree_see_me I'm sorry for being so harsh but it was just plain scary looking at that face cut. You're truly lucky to be alive dude

This was poorly executed. Watch Buckin` Billy Ray Smith for the right way.

I agree could have been done better, thanks for the referral to Billy Ray. Though not done intentionally, I am pleasantly surprised at the traffic from this.

So how comes you're cutting the back cut below the birds mouth/sink cut? That's the opposite to how we're taught here in the UK. Also looks like it had no real hinge to direct it as you'd cut all the hinge material out of the side you wanted the tree to go, or was that an accident.

Just being sloppy on a detail, unfortunately I cut out some before tacking some of the pics, thanks for noticing and commenting
@user-CF.Tree_see_me

After looking again I think it was a situation of too much hinge on the 2nd tree that caused the barber chair that I cut off before showing the stump area, a bore cut could have prevented that,I presume.

Ahh righty ho, happens to the best of us and the worse like me 😅@@user-CF.Tree_see_me

This is a result of to small of an undercut, provides possibility of barber event. Minimal event with small tree could be more serious with much larger tree.

Agreed many reasons for Barber Chair, but worked out OK in this situation though not ideal.

You have to take the axle out the hub, remove the mounting bolts to strut mount, remove brake caliper, remove outer tie rod, disconnect steering knuckle from lower control arm! Than remove and install lower control arm and reassemble! Use loctite where necessary and torque bolts to specification!

Thanks for the tips, I was hoping to avoid the steps you mentioned with what I shared, it surprisingly worked for me this time.

Ronin makes the ascender the line (rope) is a specific type that does not stretch much and stays round. Well worth the investment for us who are climbing things or rescuing others from hard-to-reach places. roninpowerascender.com/
