Did i miss the part where he covered how good the glow effect is? Whats involved in getting an okay look/charge? Is maybe not even really that nice of a glow effect to even care about?? How does it compare to other 'glow' switches? Its like the most unique part of these switches was either completely ignored or im having selective short term memory issues a need more sleep lol
I just bought one of these to pair with Steamdeck (OLED). The Aloe 37g keys were critical in my decision to get a Nuphy. I've got one other 30g keyboard and now I hate using standard 45g keys. Also 150 hours battery life.
I agree this is the best I've tried so far! I regret when I experimented with a foam like pre-made spacebar tape available online. But I reverted back to this one and I even like the weight it adds.
Nice video sir , beginner here and was doing my research about the whole mkb hobby, I can't apprehend kung what are the reasons for some mods, like i've watch hundreds of videos about modding and building keyboards and says many different terms and abbreviation... and yes I looked up those terms but I don't get why does it matter, for example the different materials for the different components of the keyboard and switch itself, or what is the difference between having 2 types of plastic as the plate or like different switches having differnt the switch housing, I don't understand what's their differences and how they affect the whole sound and feeling.. and I'm also trying to learn the different mods that can be done to change the sound or feeling when typing but I cant find someone that lists all the mods available and I cant find what does a particular mod change or its influence, I'm also curious about the term switch pingin and about making keyboards flexible to type on, I only watch on youtube that's why I dont understand whats keyboard being hollow and being foamy.. I can only distinguish clacky as high sounding and thocky as deep sounding.. currently I am on a prebuild mechanical keyboard by royalkludge and has many questions about modding and upgrading if I went to that route.. thankyou for the response sir and again informative video Its hard to get into this hobby for me because all other mkb enthusiast are like all well informed about different jargons or things and what this things do and as a beginner I can only search for reddit youtube and forums about recommended switch or keyboard, It's hard to find someone that has knowledge and knows how to explain not by just saying 'oh i will do this mod with these other mods to improve the sound and make it also have more flex' and I was like, what does thaat doo I can only search and the answers are ' it reduces unwanted sound, oh it makes the sound more whole' what are those unwanted sound?? what is a whole sound?? I know many things are subjective but how do I know what to specifically hear for If i didnt know what it changes or what it improves.. Id like to know the details or the science behind things and why are they done to have those different results..
I feel like it is also an missed opportunity for the Zoom series but again, it's not like they didn't bring a lot of value and new features to the board at the same prior price point. Right now it seems most innovation is focused on refinement and value rather than anything amazingly innovative. It's arguable if HE boards are really something or not. I still have to build and try out HE in my Zoom75 but so far, I still have tended to gravitate toward other boards in my collection other than the Zoom. I still have to say that Meletrix still does a great job with the overall build experience and "finish" of their supplied product. I'm hoping that the Zoom Alice is an opportunity to break out of the "same old" Zoom case.
I could barely feel the gasket on mine. I removed the bottom foam, did polyfill, and tape mod. I still could barely feel the gasket compared to my other kb. I'm new to this, am I doing something wrong?
I had this kind of tape lying around, used it as foam between the pcb and plate, wasnt really that good, and now I find this, holy this is a life changer.
mac/power/win switch is under the CAPS keycap.. Do you leave it ON an in sleep mode when not in use, or you remove the caps keycap everytime to turn the keyboard on/off?
What i hate about them is the high shipping cost (30$), but this is location dependant. Since in my case they ship from China I also end up paying VAT (not sure about this one) but also customs and processing taxes, so that is problematic. Vendors which ship to my country (Eastern Europe) also are limited and usually end up adding quite a commision on top.
Keyboards in the past rarely had foams, so it came by surprise that a lot of kits right now do not feel/sound good without foams. Aside from the fact that everyone is going after the "thock" sound
