Had a similar thing happen to me many years ago, I used to fish deep dyke for bream at night. I only had a 13ft clinker built boat with no lights so what we would do for light as we went along was to hang an anchor lamp off the front of the bow which worked great as it didn't shine in our eyes while fully illuminating a big area, next thing "BANG" something hit us hard. It was a goose, the light was totally bent and the glass smashed leaving us in total darkness. After we got another light lit up we could see lots of feathers but no sign of any bird. The whole thing was quite alarming.
On the River Ant most certainly, South Broads is much more tidal. I would recommend emailing the Broads Authority and they will update you more accurately on this subject.
Love the videos mate but there all ones you’re posted on several occasions or more before It would be nice to see some new stuff and what your up to now as your videos are really good and interesting so some new stuff and updates on where your at and up to would be great to watch and see mate 👍
In some cases, yes its the anglers fault for casting in the middle of the river, and other times there has been idiots from richardsons intentionally drive over are lines that are in the margins
Yes but the BA are trying to make it harder and harder for us. I'm sea side of mutford lock so no river tax and bsc needed. I've been a liveaboard for nearly 20 yrs and if your looking for moorings the minute you say liveaboard they run a mile. I want to leave the marina I'm in but there just isn't anywhere else for me to go, admittedly I have a 42 footer but it's nigh on impossible to find anywhere
@@NorfolkBroadsForum u pay and so do fisherman. I get he was bring a nob. But if there is othet morings right near just use the next one simple as that and have some respect for the bloke whos angling
With all due respect permit me to educate you as you clearly have not been correctly informed about what you are discussing. Fishermen are obliged to make way for boats wishing to moor, there is no two ways about it, it is a mooring for boats. There are no other moorings nearby as they were occupied by another boat. When a boat comes into moor, anglers are to get out of the way and not restrict the boat from mooring up. In this particular case, not only were the fishermen completely clueless to the facts about public staithes but they were also abusive, and aggressive and even kicked the boat off the mooring twice. I find it quite incomprehensible that you wrote, "and have some respect for the bloke whos angling"...
Hi ive subscribed 😊 im looking to buy a boat on the broads very soon your vids are very interesting im in wroxhamevery year with the family and a few years back we decided to save up and buy a boat thank you for your vids keep them coming quick question where would i start when looking to buy a boat im looking online NYA ect any help would be much appreciated Good luck to you
Wow, it has no boom! This is an interesting rig. It already had a gaffer, for a sprit is too bulky on this size a sail. A gaf is much safer. This is a rig to remember, for a small sailing boat this will work out fine, too.
Saw a little busted up boat moored there just off the end of the moorings with a guy living on it,granted it was a while back but if it is the same boat I hope the guy is ok
It might look tranquil.... But guys it's not what it used to be sadly the broads authority have spolt what used to be a very special area some 40yrs ago
So is your problem with putting something over the top of the candles which will contain the vapour? Or with tea lights in general? What about the oil diffusers you can buy? You put the tea light into the little contained area with the oil bowl above it… never had any problems with candles in 30 years mate.
there are signs all over the broads telling anglers to give way to boats that want to moor as they have the overriding rights to moor where mooring posts are located
I can understand the anglers getting upset, rods can cost hundreds and the boat can easily see them from a distance, the boat could also have been decent and left them room and gone further up etc. but deffo no need for the angler to start swearing etc, he was lucky it wasn’t someone who would have just got off the boat and knocked him out
Absolute rubbish. There was no other room. The anglers are obligated to make way and not only did they refuse to do so, they were abusive, threatening and even kicked the boat away on two occasions. Their actions were disgusting.
Had a boat for a week this summer from brinks craft. I was shocked at the lack of Tuition got 15mins max then was left to get on with it. Amazingly didn’t hit anything but more by luck than judgement. I did well as I pick things up quick but never felt completely in control of the boat when mooring up. To be honest found it stressful and won’t be back on the broads. Feel you should have to pass a safety test before they let you lose with a big boat.
Well said...it's absolutely ridiculous. Profit before safety and everyone else suffers as a result. When boat owners contact Brinks Bank craft to report damage done by one of their boats, they are met with an extremely rude and billigerent director. It's shocking that companies can carry on this way.
@@NorfolkBroadsForum boat was terrible as well hob didn’t work had to get out engineer to fix it. We was also told mud anchor didn’t work which in fact it did just need to reset the trip switch. Really did feel like they could care less about the quality and safety of there boats.
The amount of people who are not brought up around the water don't know the risks. Most don't even wear life jackets . I've seen kids hanging off front of boats while moving. If you don't respect the dangers of the water some thing bad will always happen
