Welcome to One More Mana! This channel hosts Vlogs primarily about Magic: the Gathering, specifically the EDH/Commander format. We discuss our perspectives on the game and bring you fun and entertaining content.
The threat assessment in my group is absolutely crap, one of the guys tries to get everyone at the table against me as soon as I've played my first card, yet my decks are slow starting, they do become hard to stop once they get going, but then he just comes out of nowhere with 2,000 mana, & a car bomb, pretty much, & every time, I get mad, & tell him why he had to get everyone on me, when he can just win whenever he wants, & I e told him that I don't like playing with him at the table, because I'm a casual player, & he takes joy in being a dick, & plays like he's speedrunning internationals, but yet he claims that when he goes out to play, that he gets completely smoked, & I don't believe that he doesn't win, when he's a know-it-all, yet he's been told off about being wrong, & won't accept when he's wrong unless you show him literal proof. And I swear that he stacks his shuffle, because he's always getting the same opening hand, & literally has 2,000 mana by turn 4.
I think I prefer when there are less vampires in Magic, either before they became a major type (in Zendikar) or when their presence on a plane in limited to a few powerful individuals, I find they are more interesting and frightening this way. Crovax the Cursed represents such a memorable story moment, Mephidross Vampire and Chancellor of the Dross look really alien, and there are other interesting takes on the concept like Repentant Vampire, Soul Collector, or Shauku, Endbringer. My favorite vampire character has to be Yahenni though, they were really greatly written. And one of these days I need to find out what can be done with Runo Stromkirk. I guess I like Merfolk and their deep sea monsters way better than vamps.
I did the exact same thing when i upgraded the Blood Rites Precon. I just threw vampires i like in there; two Sorins, the modern Sengir, Edgar. Pure vamp vibes.
One that sticks with me is that phyrexian vampire where the dude is drinking oil from the phyrexian chick's arm and she has that horrific smile on her face.
Love me a Regal Vampire in my Zoraline deck, great flavor text as well. "Those of esteemed birth earn a most esteemed death." Also, curious if you're gonna have Aclazotz in there?
One of my favorite vampires from a flavor and art perspective is Krovikan Vampire, I miss old school art like that, and the card itself is pretty good. Actually I think that art is my all time favorite of any card.
We might talk on it in a later video but with Gavin being involved I'm definitely optimistic. That man LOVES magic and has shown a great feel for commander over the years. Mostly just feel sad for what the RC went through. The members we know are some of the best people I've met and it honestly breaks my heart to see what they've been dealing with. - Derik
I can only speak for myself but was initially super hesitant about the idea and now years later half of my decks are Universes Beyond commanders 😂 I get some people's issue but getting to play magic with a transformer will forever be the coolest thing ever to me - Derik
Most interesting thing to me about Master of Pain is since it's worded first spell a player plays it could be other players on that person's turn, which is like a weird group pain diplomacy kinda playstyle
@@jamescobblepot4744 Yeah, and the one more mana crew usually are chill and have sane, level-headed responses to these types of things. They should be the new RC as far as I'm concerned 😂
We might touch on it in a future video when everything calms down. Didn't feel like we had anything new to add with everything going on and figure people might enjoy a break from it. On the game side, and I can only speak for myself, but I was pretty excited initially. I think the format is way better without fast mana at this stage. Unfortunately the game aspect got overshadowed pretty quick. Mostly just been sad seeing how the RC was treated. The members we know gave so much of their time to this format and it was a little heart breaking to see how they were treated. Hoping they can feel safe going forward. But yeah havent been quick to make a video or anything cause it just mostly makes me feel sad. I do feel optimistic with Gavin involved on the wotc end that commander will remain in a good place though. - Derik
Yeah they hit a home run with this set. As far as the artwork and feel of these cards. Grab the Prize and The room card Secret Arcade/Dusty Parlor definitely makes me feel some kind of way. 🫣
Bruh. You know when you're sitting down to play a game with mill at the table and you haven't played with all the people before but you can just tell that one of the people hates mill based on social queues? Then the FIRST time they're milled they say something like, "Man, I really wish I had drawn that." THAT, that schadenfreude, is why I play mill 🥲
You cant argue objectively for something like mill since people just dont like it on a subjective/emotional level. Heck, even graveyard deck players, unless they selfmill, sometimes dont like being milled.
I was so excited when they announced this set! Magic art has always been at its best in horror themed sets (Phyrexia, Innistrad, Eldrazi) in my opinion, and this set is certainly no exception. Outside of the weird 80's art direction for the survivors, I've been in love with all the art from the set!
ME, I MADE A ROOMS DECK. Rooms are so good, I'm into anything that gives me more card per card. I have the Adventures deck too, I'm really about that life. 🤣
tbh i was expecting so much for this set, I had huge expectations because I was interested in a horror setx and the first imagethey showed looked so cool, like lovecraftian... but we got this joke of a ghostbusters bs... what a disappointment...
