I have destroyed one mechanical broadhead when I shot a roe reed from above. It hit the scapula vertically. It's so tough stuff it broke 1 (of the 2) blade, and wasted a lot of penetration energy to it. Some one piece fixed blade broadhead could survive from that but there is not such bow with energy to split the scapula vertically. I learnt from that session. Think twice before and think where to aim if you shoot from the above
I do the same thing on the climb. I only use my linesman when I have to go around branches. I do have a figure 8 in the pouch for backup just in case of mechanical failure and also have a prusik just in case even though having it is not recommended with the madrock (prusik is not holding me up). Stay safe and good video
I am an avid deer hunter & just seeing this bucks will to live & his desire to live makes me have a whole new respect for these beautiful creatures & I started hunting when I was 10yrs old & killed my first deer & buck that scored 156 5/8 Boone & crocket and was & still is biggest deer killed in NC by a youth according to Dixie deer classic in Raleigh NC... I'm 43 now & have yet to beat my score from my first deer and lately I like watching the deer alot more than killing & that part of me that used to have the desire to smoke a deer isn't there anymore 🙃 I just don't want to kill anything unless I'm actually starving and have to to survive... after watching this I know I don't want to send an arrow into a buck that's less than the first buck or deer I ever killed so I guess I'm basically a deer watcher now 😅
Great video my friend! We are a semi new channel starting out, based out of PA also, if you care to check out our channel we would sure appreciate it, keep up the good work!
Belay devices are not meant to hold you constantly on a rope brother you need at least to put prussic knot above your belay device and you need to use that linesman belt. I think I will just stick to my 3 sticks but cool concept but be safe with that mad rock as your trusting it with your life without a backup
Beautiful buck. You should've field dressed it right away, especially with that far back hit, because if you got any guts it would for sure taint the meat. Either way, I always field dress asap. I know we all get that trophy mentality, but lets not forget the other reason we are in the woods--the meat.
I know it works for you but I'd be really careful with that tether connection point. I watched a video of a guy's carabiner with a twist lock actually open when his platform fell and he was only being held by the tip of it
Great hunt. Really enjoyed it. BUT PLEASE wear your safety harness. Too many young people have been injured or even killed falling out of treestands. I know...it can't happen to you, but it will. Get a harness - USE IT. Please!!! So you can enjoy many years of hunting.
@@prphillips33 he deploys it once he is at the top of the stick. You don't have to have a linesman belt. You can use a tether line and be just fine. He is securely tied off to the tree and the bridge. A tether is a lot easier to use and tighten than a linesman.
I find that when I hang my pack, it always seems to be in the way for some shot angles. Such as going around the tree to take a week side shot. Do you ever find that to be an issue?
Awesome job, just ran across this video. Your perseverance and not giving up when getting busted the day before. What a great hunt with some snort wheezing and everything. You put on a great shot as well. Have a BLESSED day and keep SHARING your PASSION
