the river built the state over the thousands of years thru flooding and depositing of sediment, and the changing of it's course. walls can only be built so high. sooner or later the city will have to be abandoned.
It all starts with Torque. An electric motor can produce all its torque at 0 rpm. That means 0 horsepower. It’d be the same as pulling maximum force on a spanner but it doesn’t budge. All torque and no work so no power. But, the opposite can never be true.
2024 update - house prices are not affected - it is a scam YES!!! but house prices are not affected. The liability insurance will set you back about £50. This is for a 25-35 year period during which you will be covered if a church ever comes knocking ! biggest scam ever :( we had to get insurance 8 years ago - and now we are moving - same thing applies - checks came back and yes we will need yet another insurance policy. it's an Archaic law made by King Henry Vlll
Nitrocellulose is easier if you use the flash paper method. Potassium nitrate + Sulphuric Acid + cotton Basically black powder, but a little cleaner and everything besides the cotton can be harvested from your toilet
As hard as it may be we might need to think about abandoning some of these coastal cities. The oceans will keep rising until entire cities like New Orleans are permanently engulfed in the sea. It's only a matter of time.
The fact that they were literally staring the center fire cartridge in the face with the one rifle, breach loading with a percussion cap, I mean just find a way to stick it on the back of the round of ammo that you already put in the back of the gun.
I don't live in New Orleans but I do live in Mississippi and my Grandma (and Grandpa, I think) is from here. When the dam broke after Hurricane Katrina, it affected Mississippi incredibly 🎉 too and tons of people were dead in both states. My mom was pregnant with me during the time and my Dad told me that he and my Uncle Robby had gone down to the Gulf Coast to help people evacuate and volunteer for Red Cross and they saw dead bodies floating in the water ☹️
This clueless carpetbagger person misses most important information. The Katrina flood was man made by the Corps of Engineers. New Orleans is a major seagoing port, if it didn’t exist we’d need to build it where it is. Sea rise will hit EVERY sea port. Why doesn’t he go trash the Netherlands?

Good videos, Paul, as always! I love searching for forgotten places but in Britain you have a lot more to find than I do in the USA. I'm jealous. btw Dalkey has silent L, like talky. The atmospheric terminal was at Barnhill Road, west of the middle of town, and parallel to the railway there is a short street called Atmospheric Road! (Bothar Atmaisfearach). There are two preserved atmospheric engine house buildings on the South Devon: Starcross (at the station) and Tor (south of Newton Abbot, next to a Lidl.)
I dissagree blackpowder needs a longer barrel for its slower burn and gas pressure rate. You simply use less and it fixes the issue or pistols and my 28 inch barrel jaeger would not work. Factor rifling in as this greatly helps pressure to rise.
The biggest problem they have in New Orleans is No Jobs. They have some hotels, restaurants and tourism, but no business going on. Jobs are low paying 😮😂😅😅😊
@@d.k.f4881 I suspect it's more of a problem to native English speakers in general. There are many better videos in my native dialect buried in the search results, but instead I get these foreign dialect versions first. I suspect this is on purpose.
@@user-id5ke1dl2n a gentle reminder that this „foreign dialect“ has been around centuries longer than your entire nation has. If all other first world countries have no problem understanding them, it shouldn’t be that hard for even you Americans as well.
Great explanation. Torque is an expression of twisting force with NO REGARD FOR SPEED. It could be at 0 rpm or 10,000 rpm. Horsepower is a more complete expression of performance, taking both torque and speed into account. As is common when speaking of car engines, torque is usually noted AT a particular speed. This is in fact all we need to compute HP, but the math is simply not completed. We could just as easily say that X engine makes 360 hp at 3500 rpm (its torque peak) and 500 hp at 6250 rpm (its hp peak). Graphing this curve really tells us a lot. We can double HP by either doubling torque OR by doubling the rpm at which the same torque is produced. Or more realistically, by increasing BOTH factors to a lesser degree. Assuming proper gearing, the engine with more horsepower will ultimately do work more quickly. OTOH, most of us don't operate street cars at their HP peak very often. It is unpleasant (to police at least) and hard on the engine. Low rpm and part throttle torque is useful in everyday cars because they spend so much of their time in that range.
Vaccuum trains existed. But in a different way and not invented by "Mr. Brunel", but by people long time before him. Old world tech. The remains of this time are still present im many parts of the world, but most people have no clue at all what that is. And never will...
Depending on how much they want to charge. I would be happy to contribute a few hundred if a repair is needed. But if the bill comes like 95K. What would you do if you didn't have that money?
