Original reports in Manila was that the storm thankfully moved so fast. Then the reports of Tacloban basically being swept into the ocean....

You totally missed the very badly built temporary shelters that Aquino had built for 46 million dollars. I think it was 50 of them

Iowa’s own governor, Kim Reynolds had no grasp and ignored it for 3 days. Had a Democratic governor done that, the MAGAs would’ve been screaming impeachment.

There was a storm chaser who covered this and flew to tacloban to witness this supertyphoon. His vlog shows that people were just going about as if it was a normal day right before the landfall. As if people dont know theres gonna be a big and strong typhoon that night. People were going to markets, smiling, laughing. No preparations seem in place. No warnings from the authorities. No evacuations.

I remember it being -2 in the Dallas area with no power. It was a horrible week.... Texas houses are made to withstand extreme heat, not cold. Houses everywhere had frozen pipes, the roads were so stick it was unsafe to drive, trees were down from all the ice... It was a nightmare. The worst part was being lied to by ERCOT about when the power would come back. Thank you for covering this storm, it was truly frightening to not know when help would come.

I remember Sandy. I was only seven at the time, so all my memories are with the filter of childhood on them. I remember the Halloween snowstorm pretty well, as well as the fact that a weather reporter left a banana outside during it, and then subsequently used said banana as a hammer. I also remember another weather reporter reporting live from the sand-filled pool of the hotel we always stayed at when we went to Ocean City New Jersey, the Ocean 7. These are all I really remember about this, other than the fact that we lost power and that meant me and my sister got to eat McDonald’s for dinner

I’m Pennsylvanian. This thing was literally the first hurricane I ever saw with my own eyes 💀. And was the only one for good decade until I moved down to Georgia for college. Got to see Helene this year. I remember 8 year old me was mostly just concerned with our school Halloween parade getting cancelled. Absolutely devastating.

The day after the storm my brother went to Tacloban with other volunteers from our Church. We live in another island, so were not affected much by the storm. He said that all the volunteers are males because their contact from Tacloban City said that the city is in chaos. They did not bring any food, instead they brought building matterials. Upon arriving in the city, he said that they didn't see anyone from the government. No police, no military. The people are hungry and hurting. They resorted to looting the malls. He also said that the air smells rotten. He saw a lot of bodies on the streets. He saw a Japanese Helicopter dropping sacks that contains food. He stayed there for 1 week and Helping with construction. At night They sleep in a church. Some of the church members are females so the males take turns in staying awake and guarding the church. He said that the government is non exciting during the first few days after the storm. It was devastating.

its funny so much chaos in USA by corrupt politics yet these people are so blind to blame other country's for there problem instead of revolting against their own so this will never happen again

The fact the same thing happened again is awful While Milton an Helene were not as bad as Katrina, the political figures stopping rescue efforts definitely made Katrina, Milton, an Helene worse

Our community was extremely lucky when this absolute monster hit back then, our house was relatively new (only 2 years old at most) and our neighbour's houses are recently renovated when it hit that night, we weathered through it quite decently throughout the night and we immediately reinforced our roofing further when the storm cleared up a bit that way nothing went flying when the winds hit the front of our house again (despite being literally IN THE EYE'S PATH)

To me, the PR local government is extremely corrupt and Fema is incompetent. Look at those no bid contracts and the warehouses full of supplies that never got released. The federal government has always moved slow. Hell its an island, which means it has to get aid by ships... SHIPS! The Gov of PR has to request the lift on Jones Act. Them the president can make the order to lift it. Your bias was bias in this...
