Do you ever have a shaking bike at high speeds? Went in the highway today at around 65 miles and the bike was CRAZY shaking
2 месяца назад
I haven't noticed any shaking with my bike. I have mostly driven 55 mph because of the roads, but I have done 65 mph too.

Thanks! Tightened some screws today, it seems like the two which attach the metal cross bar were not 100% torqued to the max.

This thing is crap. Yes sure, a kids bike gets scratches anyway. But this thing damages the bike by simply using it.

Do you leave the cycle racks mounted on the roof rack ready for your next ride or do you remove each time?
4 месяца назад
They were always on the roof. It was then easy to go for a ride.

Do you remember what sort of screws you bought? Thanks

Unfortunately I don't remember the exact type of the screws. The salesperson knew what kind of screws were needed for original BMW roof racks

That was helpful thanks. Elite don't give any details on how to use their app, which makes it really difficult. Then you get their rapid snappy videos with music for equipment that I don't have, which is also not helpful. I want an old fashioned slow video like this that goes step by step through all the features.

"There were two deciding factors. If the bike is on the roof I have a clear access to the trunk. If the weather is bad bike behind a car will collect all the possible dirt. " - that's a good insight. I think it depends on the rack and the car (sedan vs hatchback/wagon/SUV). There are some rear racks that dont use the tow ball, and thus follow the car shape on the back, and also the bikes become closer to the car, some even tilt foward depending on the car shape, avoiding most of the dirt. I can understand nordic countries like Finland, with rainy/snowy weather conditions throughout the year, will create a lot of dirt. But what is strange to me is that I see many more bikes mounted on the rooftop than on the rear, in Portugal, compared to Denmark or Sweden, where I see more rear mounted. Probably because most cars in nordic countries are sold with tow ball. In Portugal it is frequentely an optional, maybe because in Portugal you need an extra driving license set to drive with any type of trailer. I think you do not need that in Denmark or Sweden. I can understand that with a rear rack on a tow ball, it might be difficult to reach stuff on the trunk, although not impossible. On non-tow ball rear racks, probably you cannot access/open the trunk with the bikes on the rack on a sedan/berlina (4door), but you can on a hatchback/wagon/SUV (5door).

Oon miettinyt, että kun kelit lämpiää, niin ois kiva tehdä taas pari videota. Täytyis mennä johonkin uusille poluille ajamaan. Kotiseudun tutut polut ei oikein innosta kuvaileen.

This is so messed up. I bought this just to find out you need special aluminum roof racks to mount it. Would have been nice if ANYONE explained this in the store or online. >.<

How did you manage to get both front bases mounted evenly on the rack? On my racks the bases are unevenly mounted, I got them used but can figure out what im doing wrong

I think I just rotated the other rack, but the bases were evenly mounted already. I cannot remember if there were any backward/forward adjustment.

Thanks for the instruction on how to setup the left-handed rack. The pictograms in the instruction manual are worse than useless! If they would just put written instructions in Swedish- at least I could use Google Translate and translate it. The absence of any explanation is INFURIATING!

On the Internet there are always reports that the claw had come loose during the car ride. To follow up on these worrying events, I noticed after countless videos and forum posts that quite a few users do not follow the instructions correctly. Like here in the video, the torque was not observed correctly. One must absolutely turn to the torque limiter (loud click) that the claw is 100% correctly locked! If you happen to find other video with incorrectly presented application, share it necessarily.
2 года назад
Yes, if you lock it correctly it does not come to loose. At least I haven't had any problems with it.

Great video thanks. Could you comment on how easy, or how practical it would be to continuously add and remove the bike rack from the roof bars? My garage door is low and I'm wondering if this is a practical solution? PS: I do realise the bike rack folds flat, but approx 18cm high roof bars and approx 18cm high bike rack is just too much! Thanks.
2 года назад
It was easy to remove the bike rack from the roof rack. I did it several times. I ended up not using the rubber strip to cover the groove in the roof rack. It was then one small step less to install and remove the bike rack.

3 года назад
Joo, otin kumisuojasta vain palat pois pyörätelineitä varten. Sillä ei taida olla sen isompaa merkitystä ovatko ne paikoillaan vai ei.

Hi, can I ask why you reversed the mechanism on the second carrier? Why not just have one facing backwards which helps with the handlebars not clashing?
3 года назад
I was carrying only 2 bikes, so I had enough room for handle bars. If I had 3 bikes to travel with facing one bike backwards would help a lot. 👍🏻

Word of warning don't leave your bikes unattended on these racks. They have a massive design flaw that allows your bike to be stolen in less than 5 seconds.

My advice is, watch this video. I recently purchased an Elite Suito cycle trainer; taking it out of the box was simple but setting it up to work was not. This Ant+ video is helpful; it confirmed by own troubles and that I wasn't just me. I am very disappointed with Elite who reminded me of Garmin several years ago who also used Ant+ to operate their products and thankfully, Garmin listened to its customers and removed a need for Ant+ but sadly, not Elite who today remain very much behind the times. Tommi, Thank you for taking the time share - appreciated.

I'm amazed you got the app to work. My Elite Nero will not connect with the app through Bluetooth - the universal opinion of it in the reviews is that it is garbage
3 года назад
Yes the app is still working with my trainer. I haven't tried it with any newer trainer model though. I'm using the app just to set the power level nowadays, so I use just the very basic functionality.
