I first heard your song on the Michael Berry Show in the late 2010’s…his dad worked for DuPont in Orange his whole life, and it was an instant favorite on the show for a while. I grew up a Brown and Root brat, both mom and dad working at the refineries up and down the gulf coast, so I felt it too…especially since I had actually heard the words “keep the wolves away/at bay” from both parents at various times in the 90’s. While I jagged left and became an engineer in the aerospace industry, I brought my babies home to the Golden Triangle after the divorce. They have loved this song for years, as they see the parallels in my stories about my childhood, and they see their friends living it currently. We are all stoked to see you play here in the heart of refinery country in a few weeks!
I'm 61 years old. My Grandfather lived in Port Arthur Texas. He went to work for Gulf Oil... I've been in that area all my life. This song is so heartbreaking that no one can make it up. Thanks guys. Beautiful inspiration and an extremely talented group. Y'all keep the past alive. Sometimes it hurts.
My husband was not as horrifically injured, and not in the same industry, but much of this song could be us. 2 kids, older boy & younger girl. Dad working as a fixer in the cotton mills. Tore his back to pieces pulling a snag out of a sand roller. 8:35 Company gaslighted him with a company doctor(quack) telling him it was much milder. Trying to get past statute of limitations on workman's comp claim. My family gets him in to see a specialist. Confirms major surgery needed. Company denies claim(doesn't know he kept paperwork) We get a lawyer/he gets every 4th disability check. Surgery done. 18 month recuperation/i work 2 full time jobs. We settle for pittance/as long as he resigns. Cant get a job in the mills now/ word of lawsuits gets around. Goes to less lucrative work. Works all the time. 20 years later pain(never really stopped) is back. Another disc gives way. Money tight, all to keep wolves away.😢
Blessings from Taiwan 🇹🇼😇🎁 Jesus loves everyone 😇🥰 This song is so good 👍👍👍 but so little comments here ?!😢 Let us share this great song to everyone 🤗😘
I am about to move back to my hometown of Port Arthur, Texas. Working at the plants was life when I grew up there. My father is the current director of the Museum of the Gulf Coast. This song speaks to me deeply. All the words are so familiar. I remember many family members going to work at the Texaco refinery, and the jumpsuits/uniform they wore each day. The largest refinery in North America is Motiva and it is in Port Arthur, Texas.
Never thought I'd hear admiration for the Fibonacci Sequence while I was watching a general behind-the-scenes video. 😂 Not much of a television watcher, so I've missed the Yellowstone series along with many others. Just heard about Uncle Lucius from a musically-inclined friend. Hoping that the music-contract-snatching snowball helped out you and yours through your trials and tribulations.
Pretty much summed up my experiences with the state of Texas over twenty years ago. Damned sorry it was even worse for you and yours. Your music is very powerful. Keep making it so.
Its perfect 70s rock. I love it, kinda Cold Turkey and Another song on the chorus I cant quite place, but reminds me of a stevie nicks songs or Fleetwood Mac like..but thats beautiful to me! I like it! Our influences is what evolves us! ❤❤
Not to downplay the uniqueness and creativity clearly shown here but this reminds me of zeppelin in the best way. I felt like I had truly been taken away from the endless pain of life that I’ve been struggling with for over 10 months straight now. Thank you.
