Years ago I bought a reconditioned Juzek from this man. He is very reliable and will probably sell you the best fiddle you can get for your money. All my fiddles have Wittner Geared Pegs. My fiddles seldom need any retuning.
1230 if your playing violin has good melody but somewhat lacks power and depth. 1231 is bluegrass all the way and takes the prize. It has depth, good harmony and lots of power and seems to be aggressive. 1232 could be played as a fiddle or violin but lacks power and projection but still has decent harmony and probably make a good upgrade for a fiddler who is starting to make progress . Would be interesting to play all three and feel the difference in how they play. None the less they are all 3 good sounding fiddles that I wouldn't be ashamed to write home about. Hats off to ya Royce you did good!
Nice comparison- you brought out a nice sound in each- I think the American had the best quality sound. Sometimes you have to "work" the instrument harder to get a decent sound- which of the instruments would you say was easiest to play?
wow. You make that violin sound very nice! I enjoy watching your videos bc of your enthusiasm for each instrument and to hear you play. Wish I could buy every single one of them from you.
I bought this little beast of a fiddle. It actually sounds even better than this video. It has a loud voice with clear ringing tone and easy to play. It makes me sound better than what I really am. It’s hard to put down once I start playing it because I just love its sound. Royce has a formula that seems to bring out the best in his fiddles. Now, I just got to come up with a name for “him.” I am classically trained, but suffered a broken hand & nerve injury to my left hand (it’s pretty much normal now), so I have been reviewing my classical music but want to learn Irish/Scottish fiddling & I believe this fiddle will be great for that. (I’m not giving up my classical music either or my set up on my other violin). So, thank you Royce for an opportunity to purchase this fiddle. Your fiddles have a very fair price; worth every cent I paid.
The only instrument I ever wanted to learn was the violin. Sadly my family was poor in a communist country and their focus was on staying alive and feeding us kids.
Keep playing on every fiddle you do you just might perhaps someday discover that your a fiddler. Nonetheless its sounding good with a rich and full melody. Good job on the graduation!
This video was from years ago. It was for a banjo hangout contest on the original song. The tempo is exactly the same as Flatt and Scruggs recording. I probably would have trouble playing this fast now...LOL..
