This song sounds like the instrumental equivalent of Donny Hathaway's voice. Melancholy with a dash of hope.

This track takes me to "church", not your conventional church as we know it, the Universe kind, the "everybody is welcome" type, the "come as you are" type... Hope someone can testify 😏

Takes me back to my exile days in Lesotho. Memories of my dear departed comrades Leon Meyer (Phakamisa Juluka Lee), Cliff Brown (Alf Siqale) and Ligwa Mdlankomo (Zakes Bani) we’d gather at their Motimposo base break bread and listen to music from home and this was held a very special place in our hearts, it’s tinged with notes of nostalgia. Yearnings of the fresh air of home. Thanx Dullah🙏

One of my best musical memories is of a concert in New York, by Abdullah Ibrahim, still Dollar Brand then. It was snowing in Manhattan that night. That was 1978, my youth. So magnificent. This piece is one of his best. Soothes me always when I need it. Sounds like Basil Coetzee on sax.

😭 So Beautiful 😍. When you Meet Shiva ..you Know 100%, in a depth of your soul that is without beginning or end and so profoundly still and silent yet full of an aliveness, that you have Truly met GOD. 💕 SHIVA

Been hearing this masterpiece by the Jazz Maestro himself since I was a toddler (played by my father). Pretty much been hearing it a lot since then. Today I’m a 22 year old jazz FREAK, and this piece of art sits neatly in my -carefully compiled- playlist of over 300 jazz favourites.

🙏 Sublime!!....
