Very keenly, if it weren't for Vernon Jarrett, it would not be ACT-SO. And fortunately, in 1988, I was able to bask right into the thick of this so-called large-scale STEM/arts high-school competition which actually started around the Bicentennial year. I was a junior at that time of 1988, and competed in the Chicago local competition in 2 categories (music composition and music instrumental-classical), and won 1st place in at least one, and I got a chance to go to the national ACT-SO competition in Washington D.C. I think I was 17 years old when I competed in this Olympics! The inspiration for me to compete in ACT-SO was watching the 1984 Olympic Summer games in LA on TV. I found out that if athletes can compete and win medals in their Olympics - we students can compete in our own "ACT-SO" Olympics. Memories of being in the competition included going to the Regal Theater to get my medals in the local competition, hearing the trumpet fanfare called "Fanfare for the Common Man" (Aaron Copland), which was something like an "ACT-SO Anthem" instrumentally, and of course, try to challenge myself to be the best that I can be (that is what they usually say in the U.S. Army commercials) - without going to the Army myself!

Prior to that on the straight talk display there was no cards that I normally purchase. However this morning I purchased the $30 card the automated man said the phone was not valid after purchasing. The unethical practice of a company is not a responsible company to which steals money from its customers. I know it is discrimination Which is wrong. Recently, the experience of danger of discrimination at one of my daughters school Loma Vista Middle School within Riverside California.
