We are Trev and Sue and we go camping in our VW Crafter van conversion by IH Motorhomes in the UK and Europe. We have two aging Border Terriers, Oscar and Sophie, and we are based in Ipswich, Suffolk, UK. From the beginning in 1984 we owned ten different caravans until 2017 when we decided to try a Swift Bolero FB724 coach-built motorhome. In July 2021 we downsized to an IH Motorhomes N-680 CRL luxury VW Crafter van conversion.

@@danielrussell446 The islands are full of natural surprises and little sign of concrete and plastic except in the bigger towns. Every day there was something different to see and learn about. The wind was a big feature while we were there but it didn’t seem to spoil anything. We could have spent more time at every one of the places we stopped. Amazingly the temperature increased by more than 10 degrees when we got to Skye. Whilst the whole of the UK was sweating on the hottest days with 30 degrees or more we were in the drizzle in Stornoway at 12 degrees. Just bad luck. The Isle of Skye has Rocky Mountains, green mountains, brown, grey and red rocks and time of day or weather makes the scenery change all the time. It’s magical. Thank you Daniel. My knee is back to how it was before my fall. It was a really nasty experience but the man that helped me up was very kind indeed. I really needed him at that moment and it’s an act of kindness that I will pass on when I am given the right opportunity. Bunree is a special place. Hi Trev and Sue another fantastic video and wow what a view to wake up to it’s absolutely gorgeous and those beaches are absolutely amazing the sand looks almost white and fine and goes for miles the colour of the water as well - I bets popular there for sports like par ascending and kite surfing etc What a great place to relax and switch off from all the cares in the world it looked like Sophie loved running around on the beach and Oscar was enjoying his walk on the sand too it looks like you had the whole beach to yourselves! It really was fantastic to return to Ardroil Beach. We loved it the first time and it hasn’t changed at all. It was so enjoyable to walk on the beach we did it many times. We had a wet afternoon there though and we were able to catch some rest after a busy week. This place sticks in our memories the most and it will take some beating 😃👍🏻🚐 💙Trev
That’s one site I never really liked, it’s to much in the middle of nowhere and no where to walk to either. I also found the site had no real atmosphere just didn’t really enjoy it.

Thats a fantastic site and it looks like the facilities and site as a whole are better than the one on the other island. Again the scenery is absolutely stunning and those beaches are gorgeous it was like the four of you had the beach to yourselves! Still seems very fresh and you were lucky to keep going in that wind! This was a lovely site. We arrived in the wet so didn’t see Eriskay at its best. It’s a stunning wild place with beautiful craggy hillsides and green spaces. We would definitely recommend staying here. It was camping in the real world with great location, nice facilities, a mix of all types of campers and tents making it interesting and relaxing. The wind and the colder than usual temperatures for June persisted throughout our stay on the Hebrides. We made the most of it and it didn’t spoil our enjoyment. 😃👍🏻🚐💙 Trev n Sue
Hi Trev and Sue goodness me what a windy crossing on the ferry bet you were all frozen! Mind you it’s well worth it for that scenery it looks absolutely gorgeous it must have been an amazing drive and with less traffic it’s much easier to appreciate it Those beaches are wonderful look at the sand and the colour of the sea you could be in the Caribbean it must have been amazing staying on that site what wonderful views to wake up to can understand what you mean about the site and sorry to see was not what you hoped it’s a shame after a long drive when the site is not as good as you hoped and it seems unfair to me about the Elsan charges Did you get any Harris tweed? 😂 Looks like you all had a great time bet Sophie and Oscar loved the beach and seeing the sea all the best to you both Daniel
It’s tricky when we find a campsite that doesn’t meet our standards. However we are sure others would be perfectly fine with it. It’s only right that we should be honest with our viewers. The beach and location was lovely. Were tempted to buy a tweed jacket or waistcoat but the budget wouldn’t stretch 😉 The beaches in Harris are absolutely beautiful and very quiet and clean 🙂 Take care 🚐👍🏻💙 Trev n Sue

Bury is an unlikely spot to visit but we have enjoyed the company of many friendly people of the area and Burrs Country Park along with the Heritage Railway and Bury Market is a great place for a week or a long weekend. Hi Trev , that’s our local town, back in the day 1970’s when my dad used to work for Sprites (Recently know as Caravans international) we always used to rally there, they were great times as a kid growing up😃 we’ve been a member of the c&mh club but due to weekend commitments never rallied with our local club (mid Anglia) you just might of changed our minds 😃 Great Vlog , can’t beat a ghost ship 👏🏼 when in Suffolk

Hi Trev and Sue a great video and the east lancs railway looks really worth visiting have never been as of yet we have the Severn valley railway on our doorstep in Kidderminster and it’s well worth going they are similar having lots of open days etc The museum looks great and Trev if you are at somers wood you would love the museum at Wythall they have loads of old buses and cars and event days! They really were. The Castleton site was busy but all the people camping there appreciated the countryside location and calm atmosphere of the campground. The second one had the most amazing walks among woodland and trails which we would have loved to explore more of. It’s been lovely reminiscing watching your Hebridean tour whilst also putting new places on our list to visit. The site looked a great option on Skye. Good to see Cadac Joe living up to his name. What a fantastic little site, definitely worth remembering, I don’t think it was there when we visited but it’s perfect for that side of the island. The beaches would rival the Caribbean with the white sand and clear seas, albeit maybe a little cooler and windier 😂 best wishes H&M. x

Very informative, but looking at your more recent videos over last 3 or 4 years, can't see any sign of the tow car. When / why did you stop using it? We are planning a long European tour in large tag axle, and reckon that with total cost of buying a tow car and A frame fitting, plus all the GVW weight juggling, added ferry costs and extra fuel, we would be better off just using Uber when near cities and perhaps hiring a car for a few stays at other locations. Thoughts? (Many thanks for your helpful travel guides)
Hi, we have used the car three times this year. It’s mainly when we go to meet friends or wish to visit small towns or villages with poor parking or narrow roads. Our current van conversion is shorter and narrower than our coach built motorhome was, òso we are much more able to park without having to use the car. Five years ago we bought the Skoda Citigo for £6,250 and paid £3,000 for the conversion. We estimate that we have travelled around 3,000 miles with the tow car on board out of a total 37,000 miles over 5 years. In the last 3 years we have considered selling the tow car but because of the reliability and convenience, we have hung on to it. If I were to consider buying a tow car now I would probably reject the idea based on our current travel plans. We are touring more abroad and often choose campsites with good links to towns or villages to reduce the need for the car. We are planning to tow it on our November tour of the south coast of England because the weather will be poor then and we wish to explore various places where a van is more difficult. We have never towed a car in Europe and have not been comfortable with the enforcement of the laws by French or Spanish police. Even though the A Frame we use is Europe approved, there seems to be issues with local police. So it’s hard to tell which is best for you. If you are basing your decision purely on cost, I suggest you use public transport or taxis. If you want comfort and convenience you may consider it worth having a tow car. There’s no right or wrong, just different opinions 🙂 Trev

Hello, thank you for this! I've just acquired one of these shelters and had real problems putting it up as one of the corners turned 'inside out"...i managed to do it in the end so it has been up very briefly but then the corner popped inside out again.. .ggrrrr!! Any tips please?
It’s a little like wrestling with an octopus until you can see which is the roof and the sides. If you pop the roof out first, then each of the sides, it should hold its shape. Zip up the door to make sure you peg the base into a square so the door can be opened and closed. The first couple of times you put it up are a challenge but usually with two people, it isn’t too complicated 🙂 Trev
Thank you so much Trev, I had another go today and had to take some poles out to get it straightened out but after I'd done that and popped them back in I have a working screen house! Now I understand why the person I bought it from couldn't put it up! £80 second hand to me, money well spent 🎉
