Scotty Ross the big mouth 👄, also missed the go ahead td by rice, he over ran the play, he never got his name called after his first miss, he had quit in the 3rd quarter, players like him fire 🔥 up other teams , thanks Scott for the memories
Todd never beat Notre Dame, he just wasn’t that good, love the revenge by kovalowski at the end , love this game plus the next ten wins in a row, we own usc
Shows you what they say about person's memories ... I watched this game 35 years ago or so and seemed to vividly recall that the whole contest was played entirely during daylight and that it ended on a controversial fumble that SC coughed up and the Irish recovered. But 'no' on both counts. I had no recollection of the pre-game fight, either. As I age, I'm getting my game highlights mixed up. 🏉
Thanks for posting this. Great memories I have of that time/period. 10/21/1989. Nice graphics add although actually by convention the road team score goes on the left or top, at least on American sports telecasts. Great stuff!
Huge call by refs around 1:12:23 that REALLY helped ND in this game. USC earned a first down on the second half's opening drive but refs ruled in ND's favor. USC had some (not tons) of success offensively in the first half and looked to be doing it again to start the second half. ND gets the ball and scores TD.
Without a doubt, one of my favorite Notre Dame wins. For not being known as a passer, Tony Rice was something special. I’ll take him as my QB against anyone. Dude was just a winner🍀
Yeah well when we lost the best HC since Lou, it’s going to be a while as Freeman isn’t the guy. We were under BK. 50+ wins in five straight seasons. Problem is that we had to do it in anonymity bc of the idea that it was a terrible season if you weren’t “Top 4”, which we weren’t under Lou for most of the time he was there. I loved Lou but there were five good years. Heck we beat #1 at home and nobody cared, as opposed to 1988, where it cemented the Irish’s team championship.
@@lynnerose7891 Completely wrong. BK is a middling coach, could never get over the hump, and was extremely lazy. There are great write ups of his excuses online, i'm not going to list them here. Lou was legendary. He was a great motivator, had us ready for every game, ESPECIALLY the ones that counted, unlike BK. Anytime we went into a top 10 game, both home or away, the team was prepared, & had EMOTION. ND had an extraordinary 85% win percentage behind Lou against Top 10. BK? 2 top 10 wins, 1 being against a team that turned out to be complete trash, in 12 years. That's mind numblingly terrible, especially for @ ND.
Hope you are able to post more of the older Notre Dame - USC games. Love to look back and watch alot of the games from this rivalry I remember from decades ago. I thought the games from 1987 - 1992 were pretty competitive. Any chance you could put up any of those?
