1. Customer Retention Rate (Are customers staying with the platform after the one-month free trial) 2. Customer Lifetime value (Is the viewer making me more many than I have to send to acquire it ) 3. Customer Acquision cost (Gives an understanding of the cost to company to make a new customer) 5. Session Duration (This could be their 'North Start Metric as it would give them an understanding if there are aligned with their company's vision) 6. Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR)

soln: tot population divided by avg life expectancy gives you the births each year needed to maintain the population. which is what he multiplied by 15 to get the population to be excluded.

You could also check if there is an increase in the number of bank accounts closed for the bank. If a person shuts down their bank account, it could relate to the fact that they delete the banking app from their phone as well. Specifically look for account closures where the person has just 1 account with the bank. And try to see the overlap between the accounts closed and the accounts for which app was uninstalled.

I am really interested to know the process of video creation used for these explainers.. Do you record ipad while writing and later sync your talk track to it. Or is there a better way you are doing this.

There are applications like parallel apps that allow mobile users to have more than one whatsapp account on a single device due to which the whole analysis based on no. of phones can be said to have error in it.

I don't get the guesstimate part. If Spotify makes 0.25 rupee per ad, and user is listening to 36 ads a day, shouldn't revenue be multiplied there? Shouldn't the total be 1.54 (no. of users) * 0.25 (money per ad) * 36 (num ads) * 30 (no. days in a month)? Why did she divide this by 36? 25 paisa is the money made per ad, right?

This instead of strategy a question turned out to be product improvement question. It's very confusing at times. And applying CIRCLEs to each and every question sounds so robotic. The way I solved it was connected my guestimate results with the DAU increase question. Like in her statement she said 90% of Whatsapp users are active users. So that means, we can either target the remaining 10% or try to increase the base of smartphone users itself (eventually increasing the Whatsapp customer base). Increasing smartphone base seems too much for Meta, so we can focus on the remaining 10%. There could be multiple reasons due to which they are not using Whatsapp daily: 1. Competitions - Tele, Insta, Snap, iMessage, Dating apps, etc. 2. Any new entrant - None 3. Privacy issues - Whatsapp has focused a lot on privacy promotion in India 4. Low usage of smartphone in general - Very difficult to change the consumer behavior 5. Anything other reason? From here, the discussion can continue. I am not saying that answer was not good but I find a flow missing in her answer to the initial question. And actual interviewers will most likely question more on the approaches. PM content on YT sometimes confuses a lot! Maybe something that the PM School can look into as improvement :)

Good interview. Guestimate should have also focussed on business users which is tricky to calculate. Some points on strategy on the fly are good. We should also focus on product differentiation. Whatsapp is primarily messaging/communication platform and introducing content may not work. I'm not sure how many are adpting the channels (content from celebrities) option currently. There might be a reason why whatsapp did not introduce content. (It can even cannibalise insta). My strategy from pain points I faced for GenZ 1. Screenshot video feature (instead of taking multiple screenshots and then cleaning phone) 2. Chat assistant that reminds me of things which I want it to do on daily/weekly/monthly basis. (Drink water, stand up etc). We can give multiple options for users on what they want to focus on. 3. Can introduce some LLM. We often go to google to check during conversations.

My guesstimate gave the answer 90 lacs iphones sold in a year , and this is quite close numbers stated in some news articles Checked on google. Major factors that differed from yours was considering 15+ age percentage of population being 70% , and average lifespan of mobile phones being 3 years, and considering the fact iphone has 25% market share, I arrived the answer. Really appreciate the video, and the concise explanation.

Thoughts were all over the plate , vague structure, she did mention some of the good points regarding recommendations and journey, one of the key metrics should be prospective users that have spent time and unique participants, session times, churn rate compared to the historical churn rate. Expected more from a Google PM also her interview energy throughout this interview is terrible.
