@@beardsandjeeps6168 Thanks! I work law enforcement and about 2 weeks ago I worked a t-bone accident where a car turned in front of a JLU with a Hooke Road bumper. The car was in BAD shape, but the bumper barely had a scratch. I made the decision that I wanted one for my Tacoma and my YJ and my only concern was the long-term reviews. I appreciate your reply!
I find your analysis correct. The packaging sucks... the bull bar on my bumper was bent. They offered me a $50 refund and I took it. I then bent it back straight and sprayed it with undercoating. Looks as good as new. Overall I'm very happy with the bumper for the money and I think it would stand up to the same abuse as 2K priced bumpers. All metal has "weaker" areas because of the design regardless of price. Sometimes when you get hit or hit something it hits that spot perfectly and then it appears to be junk. You don't hit that area and it appears to be strong. Its all relative to the crash. 2K bumpers will do the same thing. I say if you can't really afford a 2K bumper then Hooke is a good option. If you can get past the haters I think most people would feel the same way.
Anyone who says Hooke road isn’t legit is a fan boy to the overpriced overland products. Steel is steel and Hooke road has come a look way , especially when it comes to powder coating and design
I bought the front and rear bumper from them, the mad max front bumper, it's solid, and bolted up fairly easy, my light pods were flushed, looked great, the packaging was solid, and nothing was getting to the bumper, I would buy them again.
I have HoakRoad bumpers on my 2008 dodge big horn with a 12k badlands winch that fit perfectly inside in the front bumper. My truck was able to pull a fallen 75ft tall cherry tree completely off of a house it had fallen on and it pulled the entire truck forward about 2 foot but was able to completely man handle that fallen tree. I love my bumpers and winch. The FedEx guy was not pleased with how heavy the bumpers were lol.
BUYERS BEWARE , DO NOT BUY HOOKE ROAD BUMPERS , THEY COME DAMAGED ALMOST 100% OF THE TIME AND THEY SEND YOU BOGUS PARTS AND MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK IF YOU EVEN CAN ! NOT WORTH TAKING THE CHANCE
This wouldnt be hooke roads fault, this would be more of a damaged in shipping issue, anything thats big and heavy needs to be moved with a machine and sometimes the people in those machines either drop it, ram into it, or stacked it poorly on trailer, this can happen with any product from any manufacturer, as long as my product doesnt come in beat to hell, a few scratches and scrapes aint nothing
Also ive bought plenty of items where people left a review just like yours, and never had one single problem myself, either you werent paying attention when you placed your order, dont fully understand how the product works, didnt follow instructions or your expectations are a little too high , I’ve learnednot to pay attention to silly reviews like yours unless a whole army of people say the same thing, which isnt the case here
I have the $580 combo set front and rear bumper from Hooke Road and they held up fantastically. A friend yanked the rear bumper with his jeep to pull me out of the snow very hard, held up great. I winched from the front and pulled me and his jeep from the front, that also held up really great. Highly recommend. I will say I fully agree with the packing issue and the lights not being perfectly symmetrical.
