yes, people do have their legs done. How many hours it takes varies - Caucasians tend to need fewer hours due to lower density compared to people from the Mediterranean or the Middle East. Legs are much faster to treat though as the skin is taut and hairs are lined up in the same direction. My longest first clearance on legs is 90 hours on medium built Turkish man. For completion, we would need 2 more clearances each shorter than the previous so in total he would have needed 150-160 hours if he wanted to get rid of all hair, but he only wanted reduction.
Interesting that you think that. Does the client look like they react to the pain, in your opinion? If it was painful, wouldn't they flinch or withdraw?
Yes, it is ok to shave as long as you are not hoping to have the hair removed in just 3 clearances. As a smaller part of the cycle is present above the skin when shaving between appointments, more clearances will be required, but in total you'll need approximately the same number of hours. Just spread differently through the 12 months. Also, remember to grow the hair for at least 2-3 days before your appointment so the electrologist can see it.
Hello madom Hope my this message will find you in good health . I am electrolygist(by profession) from pakistan . I need your guidence about magnifying loupes . please guide me how much magnification should i buy and which company ? I mean 6x , 5x , or 4x ?
Hi! Yes, I am still using my Heine 6x loupes. I used them exclusively for over a year but I am trying to only use them when absolutely necessary now. While I was ok using them without my prescription before, I definitely feel the need for adding it now with the insert. While the head band is meant to distribute the weight on the head and make it lighter on the nose, my neck is still bearing the weight of the whole set and neck pain and headaches are guaranteed if I do longer than 4 hours. I wish there was longer working distance as this would ease the strain for me. But still the clarity of the image is unparalleled and I have been able to do work, that would usually be impossible, thanks to this set. The focus needs readjusting daily as it seems to move somehow while resting on my manikin head, but I am much better at getting it right quickly now. I hope this helps.
@@flawlessskinbyelectrolysis7982 great answer! I am a Dentist and currently using Heine 3.5x 420mm on a light headband. I know the 4.0x and 6.0x come only at 340mm, so that's an issue for me, because I am 1.75 mts tall and the 420mm working distance suits me perfect in most clinical situations. Is there any chance of talking to you through whatsapp or mail in order to clear my doubts on the matter?
@@italotorres7000 i am dentist too and i had the same problem as you. Which magnification did you choose? 4x or 6x? What is your experiences compared to 3,5x?
I want to do this but everyone tell me its to much time and they dont want to! What do i do? There is a place that does this but i have to travel 6 hours.. Every 2 weeks?
This method has been around for 140 years. Thermolysis is safe to carry out even during pregnancy. There is no current running through the body. Only tiny amount of heat at the hair root. Totally safe. Apart from mild redness and normal healing post treatment, there are no other effects observed.
@@geripanayotova8288 I understand, as I don't do much with Social media either and will be doing even less of it. Barbara Greathouse asked me to verify my new member's identity per Deedra Fahey's request. I thought the best way to do so was to load a video and give her a pre-view and the exact date I would post it. If you can't find me, Barbara can direct you to my new member's profile.
@@abhi-fx6jp I don't know your case and cause for hair loss, so I cannot advise you. There is normal hair loss daily that is due t some hair follicles going into a resting stage. Then there is excess hair loss that is usually due to DHT - a hormone circulating in your body. DHT effect may be pre-programmed genetically if your grandfather on your mother's side was bald. Or DHT levels may be elevated due to something happening in your life or health. There are other life style factors that can also cause hair loss. Seek medical advice if it seems excessive.
I love the example thank you! My man plucks his face for at least two hours a day but somehow doesn’t see how it’s *destroying* his facial thing. Great job explaining!
I am a guy and plucking my complete face since I was 16. Now I am 33. I pluck them every week. Why my facial hair follicles aren't damaged yet? I don't get bunch of hair coming out but they are decent amount to be plucked every week.
Hey how has this affected your hands (from tweezer grip) your arms (being in stiff positions for long periods of time) and shoulders + neck? My man will dig into his face with sharp tweezers (some he sharpens himself even more) trying to get out ingrown hairs/hairs that are just underneath the skin. Now that he’s started using dollar shave club he has a better scrubbing and shaving process, but still tweezing for hours daily. Do you do your full face of shave first? What about your body? He grows a thick, full beard and neard. Thanks for the info. 😇😇
@@Viper-py4pg I think I have less hair naturally. I never really had ingrown hair problem. I have never shaved in my life. Neither have I ever used any facial hair removing method other then tweezing. I only have to do it once a week. Even after a week, the facial hair aren't too much. My hands are fine. Never had any problems. I usually relax on a Saturday. Sit on a chair in my bedroom, play interesting videos or podcasts, and I'm done tweezing face and neck within 2 hours. Your husband has thick hair I assume?
lidocaine 10% works well for tattoos, but not for electrolysis. The reason for that is that it needs to reach the blood circulation to work, so tattooists break the skin and then apply it. We can't do that with electrolysis and lido by itself doesn't penetrate the skin.
I have watching videos on electrolysis. You mentioned that we can trim hair. I've been trimming my upper lip hair for a month now. Thanks. You're videos are very helpful
I normally use home remedies like yogurt gram flour turmeric rice flower etc to cleanse and put masks Can I use these after 2/3 days of post treatment. And is it true I can’t wash face for 24 hours at all?
You can and you should wash your face with lukewarm or cold water and a gentle cleanser. No exfoliation or scrubbing. I would wait a little longer for any masks probably.
Some people do need numbing and others- don't. I have clients sleeping on the couch for 4 hours while I'm working through their thick beards and others who can only cope with it with dental block. Until you try you won't know.
Hey Geri, you Mad Scientist, I LOVE YOUR DEMO, bravo. This is worthy of much discussion within our profession. I learned blend in theory only, and when I made the decision to try it, I could not make sense of the conversion of UNIT of LYE, so I ignored what most of us are indoctrinated to believe. I’m a manual operator and max out with my RF and keep the DC at 1.0mA. It’s been nearly two years, and all I can say is, working this way on deep terminal hairs, I get a smooth release and girl, I’m fast. My video (Terminator) shows your demo perfectly. I hope you succeed where I failed to prove to others within our industry much is learned when one keeps an open mind.
Hi Marcia. Thank you! I had so much fun doing these experiments. I totally get your feelings about the units of lye. All that matters in the end of the day is that the hair slides out with the root mostly intact. Your Terminator video shows that just great. How one will achive it doesn't matter, IMO. It's nice to see more and more colleagues giving new things a try and keeping an open mind. This way both - us the professionals and the customers - are winners.
@@flawlessskinbyelectrolysis7982 If, it's ok, I would like to add the link to this video, on my next post, which will be blend vs thermo...full progression and stats?
There are no permanent side effects to this procedure apart from the hair loss (-: when done correctly. As with anything, if the treatment is not carried out by a trained professional, there is a risk of scarring in the form of ice-pick scars or texture abnormality. In the short term, expected effects on the skin are redness and localised edema which subsides within 2 hrs. Blotchiness, tiny pin-prick scabs and pigmentary changes are also possible occurance as they are transient part of the natural healing process in the skin, so I wouldn't call them side effects in the context in which you are asking.
Thank you! I’ve looking for some explanation for the red dots I still have in my upper lip after 6 weeks. I’m relieved it’s part of a normal healing....just sad I have to go through such a lengthy process. I had electrolysis done in arm pit and bikini area over 30 years ago with wonderful and permanent results. But I don’t recall the same results I got this time around. Probably the face is more sensitive.
Yes, the face is more sensitive and the skin on the face iis thinner than the skin on the body. Red dots on upper lip at 6 weeks is rare though, unless you are a slow healer. Please share your concern with your electrologist. She may be able to change the needle type or the method she is using to reduce this.
This client had 6 laser sessions prior to electrolysis, which reduced her hair density by about 50%. We finished with 12 hrs electrolysis. 3 Years later the area is still clear.
Hi there... My name is adriana and Im a trans female whos interested in electrolysis on my upper lip and chin area..... Normally I pluck all these hairs but I truly want to get rid of them completely.....is there any suggestions you can give when it comes to this process cause Im nervous about the whole thing and with how painful it may be .... I have been on hrt meds for 2 yrs now.... Thanks soo much 😀
Hi Adriana, Please search your local area and go to as many consultations as you can to find a suitable practitioner. YOu'd have to stop plucking, but you can shave between treatments if the growth bothers you. There is no other way around it, I am afraid. Most practitioners would thin the hair growth on these areas first, if it's dense. Or, if you start shortly after stopping plucking, you may go for short appointments but often at first, that will clear the emerging growth. YOu can use emla cream for numbing. It does help a lot. YOur practitioner can also vary the settings and method they use to find one that works best for your tollerance level. I hope this helps. Good luck!
ive been using sterex witch hazel for years after electrolysis, i never thought of using aloe and tea tree oil, i'm all for natural alternatives, i will give this ago tomorrow morning :D i have an aloe plant too
Because I am not piersing the skin. I am inserting the needle into an already existing opening of the skin - the hair follicle. There are no blood capillaries in the follicle, only outside it and at its bottom, but I am not touching that. Also, the heat that the pulse creates cauterises and capillaries nearby.
It depends on how your practitioner prefers to work and how much you can do in one session. I, personally, prefer to work in clearances, so I ask my clients to grow the hair for 4 months min before the first clearance. They are allowed to trim the hair, but no shaving or waxing. After all the hair is treated in the first session, we leave it for another 4 months and do the second clearance and so on. But I have done shorter monthly sessions for some clients who cannot bear of afford the clearance strategy plan.
